What's the reward for finishing Hardcore Mode?
When I begun the game, a message popped saying if I played Hardcore mode I would receive a reward. So I agreed to endure the pain to see what I would receive. I usually don't care about achievements, but I care about in-game rewards.

So I just finished the game, and no message popped up telling me about the reward. Only if I wanted to return to the save prior to the Hoover Dam Battle.

Please don't tell me the reward is the useless achievement.

mainly on normal mode, companions cannot die so you could just let them handle things for you. with High Charisma and even their default weapons they can manage fine without you. with Low Charisma its still pretty bad.

Healing is no longer instant. so you can't just buy 100 stimpacks and hotkey them to tank all incoming damage that doesn't one-shot you as god mode.

....Ammo does have weight which sort of fixes the issue if infinite ammo for some guns at least, but they add Pack Rat perk which halves ammo weight so you can carry twice as much

you can carry alot of ammo to make it functionally infinite, and its not like you can't always travel somewhere and buy more.

the Basic Needs are minor because Cactuses are prevalent everywhere satisfying your FOD and H20 Needs. drinking from and water source is -200 H20 regardless of survival level and mosts enemies can be cooked and eaten. SLP accrues too slowly, to be noticed. Occasionaly it goes up a level and I sleep in a bed to fix it.

So yeah, Hardcore mode, I play with it on MAINLY because of the initial two issues would make the game WAY too easy.

But you could go without it provided you limited your self, maybe use no companions, maybe not use stimpacks.

buy not using survival mode is basically using tgm.

You are now more carefull around your companion, making them more of an asset to you. (Trust me you dont want to bring rex into a cazadores nest)

Relax, you just had to lose 15 pounds out of your 400 carrying capacity to compensate for ammo weight.

I feel cheated. The way they word it at the beggining made me think it would be some kind of special perk I could use on a supposed New Game+.

Yeah I had to restart a save some times because of Rex going Kamikaze style. But overall the dog was overpowered and took care of everyone before I could even notice them.

Overall pretty easy game even on this dificulty.

^Yeah good answer man.

I ended up with a build with high Survival, high Speech, and balanced between Explosives, Guns and Unarmed, with more focus on Unarmed and Explosives, but I ended up using Guns a lot.

Loved to use campfire to make stuff... I made so much Purified Water. Only on EndGame I figured out and started using the Reload bench, breaking a type of ammo to make it another...

I'm going to restart that last save and explore more of the map
