Probably just steam updating license or something

There are several recent threads on this.

The game was not updated. Read them for details.

Geez, you guys are like a bunch of mind-numbingly clucking chickens. I'm reporting all of this update nonsense as spam. I don't know about anyone else. Recent thread asked for a mod guide or whatever. My response was I was considering it, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest need. With these kinds of questions dominating the FNV forum, I think I rest my case.

Again - there are three other threads on this on the first page alone. But to repeat, since you apparently cannot be bothered to look -

THE.

GAME.

WAS.

NOT.

UPDATED.

It was a backend Steam update. Whether it was the Steam dll, shader cache, cloud sync change, dependencies, Proton integration, whatever - the game itself was NOT updated. You can check the game files on SteamDB, you can check them on your hard drive, and you can check the literally thousands of other threads on this forum and others asking the same question about these tiny "updates" on virtually every game on Steam.

I currently have twenty-seven <100kb "updates" queued for various Steam games, that have nothing to do with the games.

Steam has *always* done this. These have *always* happened. For some reason, the new download system means that more people are noticing it. It is nothing new, and it happens on literally every game on Steam from time-to-time, and has done so for at LEAST the last decade.

Let me repeat - THE GAME WAS NOT UPDATED. Some Steam file tangentially related to the game was updated.

I really, really don't understand why people keep asking this same question, about every few minutes, on a huge amount of Steam forums. These threads are literally everywhere, literally another one a few posts down from this one.

These are *just* the recent ones from this forum -
