Since when .223 Pistol became That Gun?
I know that story about old .223 Pistol from Fallout 1 and 2 were known as 'That Gun' among the fans of Fallout, and it eventually influenced its official naming in New Vegas. The name 'That Gun' was so popular, developers of NV decided to represent it to the actual game. (A good call, I guess)

But since when, or where, did people start calling .223 Pistol as 'That Gun'? I don't remember any actual NPCs in both Fallout 1 and 2 calling this gun as 'That Gun', so it must be some random guy in the internet who started calling it.

If anyone knows about the birth of the word, 'That Gun', I would be glad to read it.

fallout 1 item description.

because it can't be called the gun from blade runner because of copyright laws.

According to Joshua Sawyer, its name is derived from the fact that many players referred to the .223 pistol as "That Gun in Fallout and Fallout 2."

I don't think the item description had anything to do with the name 'That Gun'

It is just a recurring reference to it, since it was the best small guns category weapon in FO1 (and it was a unique item there), and since it was what most people specced into, it was the most used weapon in the entire game, followed by the turbo plasma rifle (another unique item).
This remained in FO2 too, since you could acquire the .223 pistol super early, the ammo was probably the most common, and it had ridiculous damage/turn stats, so again, it became the most commonly used weapon for those who did not realise that you can get a PPK12 and 2-3000 ammo for it in Frisco after leaving Arroyo if you don't mind save scumming.

So, it became that gun since all players used it extensively, even if later they found better builds and weapons for their characters. If you played FO1/2, you will simply just know what they are talking about.

Yes, I already know all that. What I want to know is WHEN and WHERE did people start calling .223 Pistol as 'That Gun', not the reason of why this weapon is so popular among the players.

What I would like to see is the very first community post or comment that actually refers .223 Pistol as 'That Gun'. A solid, reference proof for the word usage of 'That Gun', which (supposedly) made before the day when F:NV was released.

What you've been wrote was basically explains 'Why .223 Pistol was so popular and gained its unique nickname from the players' - which I did not ask you to explain it.

The title even says what I want. 'Since when .223 Pistol became That Gun' - It's not - 'Why .223 became That Gun'

Stay focus and read the post before you make a comment.

Since FONV. =) That Gun is not a pet name for it, but it never had any: it was either the .223 pistol or "that gun from FO2" when people talked about it on forums. Nothing else to it.

If you’re so interested why not try finding it yourself? Not like you will. There’s a reason you aren’t getting the answer you want.

I did actually try, but then, I didn't even know where or how to start with it. It's not like it will pop up as a search result in google if I type 'the origin of That Gun'.

I hope that you don't come across "This Gun" or you might really be upset.

It doesn't sound like you're interested in the lore as you were given that and particularly rude about it.
Johnny Casey Dec 18, 2018 @ 5:07pm
Yeah... I admit. I was a bit upset at that moment. I'm sorry @tagalby if I was being rude to you.

Because you think that someone favorited that specific post and can provide it quickly?

Or because you think that someone's going to do the work for you?

If you don't know anything about it, you can just move along and say nothing.

Why did you literally have to click and see this post just to insult my curiocity that may looks hard to be solved?

Because I saw the text of your OP in the main forum so I clicked through and, sure enough, there you were being an arse to everyone else because they wouldn't do this research for you.
Johnny Casey Dec 19, 2018 @ 4:53pm
I never even said to go and do the research for me. What are you even accusing me for?

I mean, sure. You can gladly do the research by yourself for me, and I would be glad to hear the result out of it, since it was something I have failed to do so, but to top at all, I didn't ask for it.

I stated myself clear that I am looking for someone who knows about the origin of the word, 'That Gun'. I never even mentioned that I'm looking for someone who's willing to search this particular origins for me.

And being an a$$ to everyone? What's wrong with all these false accusations? So far, only person I was kinda being rude was just A person(even that was caused by a person who mislead the topic), not EVERYONE.

If you have nothing else to say than mere insult, just move along.
