Fallout New Vegas: Can't trap Father Elijah because he INSTANTLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SPOTS ME
So i dont know why, but instead of de-activing the forcefield, he always runs through it, then runs back into that room, deactivates it, and slowly comes down the stairs, instead. Too bad that it INSTANTLY SPOTS me and says (DANGER) no matter where i am in the room, even if i hide behind multiple walls.

Yeah, a recurring random AI package hiccup on him. Many people saw it. You cannot really do anything abut it, the script in his AI that alerts him to your position if you try to sneak around too early just instantly goes off. Since you cannot NPC reset him (that leads to the entire quest getting stuck somehow), you pretty much need to pick the confrontation option.

what a bunch of ♥♥♥♥. Bye bye 37 gold bars.

Somebody once claimed that they got the 37 gold bars going the long way, by stashing them near the elevator on the far side of the force field, then bring Elijah down and run like hell through the long way back before the elevator door seals shut. I was unable to do that myself.

I did this once on the console. If you get right up against the forcefield turned the right way, you'll drop the bars on the other side of the force field.

Elijah never appears for me. I just waltz in the vault, get locked in and die. Figures as much, as the last save before the Vault is the clinic. In my defense, I never expected to get soft locked into eternal suffering, just meet Elijah, shoot him a bunch and move on, like with the other DLCs.

Lol it's because you didn't read the message and the warning not to open the trap file meant for Dean which locks you in and you die.
Simply don't open that file on the terminal and you won't die

Well that's a fine how-do-you-do, because Dean didn't even let me not kill him. Man, this DLC is really hard, and not in the combat sense.

I found that if you go and destroy all the turrets before confronting Elijah, then getting him to come down will have him not spot you.

You can only keep Dean alive if you didn't threaten him earlier in the dlc and instead helped him with the hologram guards

But I did. Activated all 3 of them. You know, I was really bummed when I realized that my last save before the Vault was in the Clinic, but now it seems like a blessing in disguise.

The barter check in the very beginning of your relationship also nullifies the chance to not have to kill him. Be nice, helpful, whatever. Don't threaten him though because OH BOY.

This is where the stealth boy might come in handy and save beforehand everytime you are on that point for reloading purpose it may help as well

Dean feels intimidated if you show to be competent, smart, and have people skills, he wants to think he can manipulate you. This is why funny enough winning some speech challenges against him (especially that barter check) will infuriate him and make him start plotting against you.

As for the trapped ending, it is a clever way to see if the player bothers to actually read or just mindlessly clicks through everything. Especially if someone manages to fall into the trap twice in a row ("fool me once…").

Did you raise your sneak?
talgaby Dec 17, 2018 @ 3:24am
It is pointless, that entire sequence plays on scripts. You can have a sneak value of 0 or 100, Elijah will still miss/discover you all the same. It depends on his relative position, his current script timer, and your current position, nothing more.
