How to prepare for dead money?
From what I remember (i haven't played this dlc in 2 or 3 years) dead money is an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥ to complete from a combat standpoint. I'm trying to prepare in every way i can beforehand, are there any specific perks or items i should get or are there any skills i should get high. The only relevant information I have is currently am level 40 with both ranks of toughness, the sub dermal implant and the rebreather (so i have decent dt going in) any other quest items or perks i should get before entering the bunker? I'm currently banking on the strat that i can either sneak past the ghost people or kill them with unarmed.

Its not as hard as you might expect. Just don't go in rushing it. Take your time and look for traps. If you collar starts beeping go back until it stops and look around to find the speaker. Its insanely easy if you have the patience. Theres only like 30 ghost people in the entire DLC.

Just explore every nook and cranny and you'll be set with supplies. Youll end up not caring that you couldn't bring your stuff in the dlc.

I played DM on hard, hardcore mode, JSawyer mod and a mod that adds much more ghost people around the dlc. I never had to use console commands or any cheat device. I actually made it out with about 15 stimpaks, and this was with Jsawyer. I only died once due to my own negligence. This dlc really isnt as hard as people say. Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are much tougher since OWB has an overabundance of bullet sponge enemies and Lonesome Road with its Couriers Mile and irradiated deathclaws and crap.

What you have should be good enough. Simply just dont go rushing around. Explore and watch for traps. Even on Hardcore the cloud wont kill you fast enough to make it really a issue to watch out for.

Appreciate the help man maybe i was just bad at video games 3 years ago. Now all I wanna know is are there any specific perks or skills i'll need to get a "good" ending?

To get the "best" ending, you just need a speech of 80, and make sure you don't threaten or piss of Dean, and don't force Christine into the elevator.

Otherwise the dlc is pretty easy, especially if you're unarmed. Just don't run straight through everything like you're a walking tank and you'll be okay.

+Speech: is a critical factor in pretty much all of the dlcs including this one.

-Energy weapons: are pretty sparse so be ready to stick with stabby stabs and powder pistols for awhile.

+Repair/science: loud noises and bright lights can be annoying, turn them off with these

+Perception, lockpick, and medicine: can do story stuff

Be prepared to look around for secret story stuff if you’re in it for the plot

Dean in particular is quite easy to miff. If he ever calls you his "ball, chain, and dog collar" then you've screwed up and need to reload.

Make sure you hardsave before ever talking to him.

for sure i'd probably try to get at least a lvl 50 repair survival and science skill to craft all the ♥♥♥♥ you'll find around the area.

get a sneak skill to since it'll be easier to take out the enemies and sneak past holograms

lastly i'd recommend a ♥♥♥♥ ton of carry weight for all that gold bars you'll need at the end of the run.

Light step. A decent explosives and survival skill.
This is about it. It is more about your skills as a player than what your character can do.

I have a pretty low lockpick and perception (50 lockpick 4 perception) is it that important?

Lockpick can be used for some shortcuts and loot, but it is not too crucial.

Don't worry about carry weight. All the perks increasing your carry weight will get you 1 more gold bar.

Just take all of them and sneak out if you want the gold bars, carry weight doesn't matter
