Where tf are the radroaches
Out of all the 300+ hour's i've played this game I have only encountered one radroach. Where are the rest. Do they not exist in the desert. Are they a dying species in the mojave?

Radroaches are rare yes.
There's one on the road to Primm being killed by a Gecko.
There are some in a building in the south Vegas area.
There are also some in the Sierra Madre.
With all the other hostile creatures and human influence in the Mojave, Radroaches aren't going to survive very well.

I usually find them in old dank and dark buildings. Like little stores and houses and stuff will sometimes have a few radroaches.

i dont think you'd see a lot of them in the desert, it's too bright.

Radroaches were never really a thing in the west. Sure, maybe one here or there in NV, but they never existed until Fallout 3 happened. They're kinda a joke, really. Meant to be the obligatory weak pissant that you sorta just squash and move on with your life.

Wonder why bethesda made the radroach the first enemy?

Maybe this is just a result of reading too much literature in the early hours of the morning (so many hours of lost sleep... :'x), but I always saw this as symbolic of the gecko in effect replacing the radroach as the new token weak enemy—or at least the smaller ones, anyway.

Pretty sure it's for the sake of having a new kind of critter to kill in the wasteland, considering most of the enemies are either rehashed baddies from the original Fallout titles, or just generic bandit/raider types.

Yeah, the only time the raiders actually show emotion and a blip of personality is in fallout 4 or fallout new vegas.

Tactics. They were introduced in FO Tactics and were a fairly common early game enemy.

Not sure if you know this but in dark souls 3 they have a HUGE mutated version of a crystal lizard (crystal lizards are small non-hostile creatures that you kill for rare materials to upgrade your weapons with, if for some reason you've never played a souls game) that you fight in the first area of the game. It's basically revenge for all past crystal lizards you've killed in previous dark souls games. They could have done something like that with radroaches. Some humongous radroach that's basically a boss battle.

One of my favorite moments in fallout 3. You could basically the devil to butch, the biggest a**hole to Butch or be a goody two-shoe guardian angel and save his mom (and all outcomes are kind of hilarious. Like even when you save his mom she immediately starts drinking more vodka).

The large geckos can f*ck you up pretty badly. It's kind of the same thing with radscorpions. The small ones are dead before they can reach you but if a giant radscorpion reaches you you're probably dead before you can do any real damage.
