[SOLVED] Fallout New California Constant Freezing/Crashing

I understand that this may not be the best place to put this; it's been a VERY long time since I played with lots of mods for FNV and I wanted to get back into it by starting a New California modded playthrough. Originally I kept my mod list short but went on a binge one day and had over 40 mods, and realized I kind of broke it due to missing textures due to incompatibility. I removed ones that were incompatible at the time to fix later, and played with about 35 mods active until I got to Union City. This is where my problems began.


Long story short, I had an issue with DarnUI and MCM, Darn required MCM because it was saying the version integrated in PN was outdated. I messed around a bit, don't even know what I did, but now my issues increased. At Union City after I retake the power station, I am essentially getting two major issues:

1) occassionally when I launch, I have sound in main menu and startup music, but once I am in game there is absolutely ZERO sound. My drivers are up to date and nothing on my side that is audio related seems to be a problem.

2) The bigger issue: After about 10 minutes of gameplay, sometimes more or less, my game just freezes on what I'm doing and essentially crashes, but I can't alt-tab and have to use tab+del in task manager to end the program manually.

One more thing, the crashes seem to be happening the more East I go towards Xiabula to go repair the water station. It's getting to a point I can't load up a save and play more than 5 minutes without this issue happening. I believed originally it was happening when CASM autosaved, but now I've seen it happen plenty of times without it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I *AM* running archive invalidated, 4GB Patcher, and JIP NVSE alongside normal NVSE.

EDIT: Launched game once. Crashed upon load in.

Second launching: I have disabled and replaced/reinstalled all mods in a proper order. Game loaded properly and had no issues, until I made it to a camp of Road Bandits near Xiabula. Was near a firepit and was searching a duffle bag and sound cut out except for nearby fire place. One minute later game crashed.

If you follow this video walkthrough (taking care to follow the exact steps; including renaming any exisitng NV or NMM folders) it should work great. At least it works great for me

Um, well the thing is I'm already like a third of the way (maybe more, not sure) through the game and it didn't require me renaming folders or installing the game twice. It's purely mod related as I was not having this issue at all until I got to Union City after the power relay quest and now I'm crashing whenever I go too far East. Plus, sound is out completely when I launch the game past main menu.

IWR is compatible with New California? I thought NC does not support any cell alteration mods.

I've been seeing you in five year old support threads for this game when I searched for solutions on Google hahaha.

Anyway, I did what you said, also disabled IWR because I completely forgot about the dev's natural gravity limits, but now I'm getting an Application Error upon launching in Vortex.

Update: I Copied Steam.exe to my FNV directory to fix the Application Error problem, launched game and sound was working and everything was running normally! However, despite applying changes I made it just outside Xiabula and had the same game freeze error as before. I really don't know what could be causing it.

Then it is an issue with the mod itself and you need to take it to the authors. Preferably with attached save files.

I got it working. Not really sure what I did but I'm pretty sure that it was due to the NMC's textures. My guess is it overloads the area around Xiabula, CASM even saved there as "crash" saves. I uninstalled NMC's, used Ojo Buenos (bc I wanted a texture pack) and when I ran the game it said I didn't have enough memory. I deleted OB, ran 4GB patcher manually, tried again and the game has worked since, now nearing the end of the story.

Hopefully when I start the main game back up the plethora of mods I plan on using will work, might just do a fresh reisntall so it doesn't go ass backwards.

I confirming that. Got same problem. Could not get into that city, were getting game freeze on entrance. But after I disabled all NMC's texture packs in FOMOD it worked fine. Btw didn't reinstalled or touched anything else.

Hey I've had the same problem with Union City. I've been trying for months to do the NCR playthrough of the mod which requires multiple stops at Union City as you know. Can you PLEASE give me a step by step guide of what you did to fix the problem?

I just had to delete/turn off my ENB and it ran perfectly for the rest of the game
