:edit ... he has probably already been killed in your game
I wasn't going to continue past tilde land, just wanted to solve the mystery. Load back afterwards.
This does say "After speaking with the player, Malcolm Holmes will walk directly to the Mojave Outpost. He will disappear from the game once he arrives there"
Lucked out on the roving trader outfit, geckos got Barton Thorne before he could double cross me, so I had no humans on my stats.
Picked up ED-E and started having him ankle pick the wasteland. Every three days wipe Trudy out of caps, Level up off the cazadores and Giant scorps. Take the bighorner and gecko meat to Trudy.
Plan was to max merchant, then walk the long clockwise perimeter. I know some vipers have the hat, and I was collecting Laser RCW's off fiends who tried to fight the fire ants.
Maybe I shouldn't covet malcolm's sweet, sweet hat. But any info about how he spawns, that kinda stuff, is welcome.
I'm not trying to cheat, I just wanted to know where and if he died.
I was low level enough that re-rolling wasn't a huge ordeal.
Ol Holmes didn't show up when I picked up the star cap in Goodsprings, even if I waited 24h.
So I went to Jean Skydiving, grabbed that cap, then hit wait for 24h. Worked that time. Sold him all the burnt books I picked up in Goodsprings and cleared his inventory of items, but did not kill him.
Then I followed his tracks. Even if I don't get his hat, I should have a decent guide to Mojave outpost, right? WRONG.
He walks past the ruin of a house on the goodsprings side of the road, then drops out of the map at a rock between Goodsprings Source and Lone Wolf Radio.
Not the ending to this mystery I wanted, but meh. Off to hunt cazadores and Bighorner. At least Barton Thorn was kind enough to give me a Roving Trader outfit, even if I did have to hit F9 many times.
I may or may not have blown sunny's head off after hearing "Hey that's not bad see" for the fifth time. Barton wasn't wearing the right fashion.
Once again, I'm always happy to read a new source on information.
