Crashing - Where is the NVSE Plugin folder
I have nvse. I installed it exactly has told to in directions. I have 4gb patcher and followed the details to the letter. still crashing so i tried getting nvac. As i looked at the directions on how to manually download the plugin it said there should be a plugin file inside of the nvse. There isnt. Only a Common Folder and a NVSE folder inside of the scr folder (Fallout New Vegas --> scr) According to youtube and the silverlock website you just take the dll files and exe files and put them into the fallout new vegas file - not the data file (hence why there is no actual NVSE folder - just a NVSE sub-sub folder. If i had left the entire NVSE folder it would look like this (Fallout New Vegas --> NVSE --> scr --> Common or NVSE. According to one video it said scr would be where you put the mods, but he had a plugin file, i however do not. Pretty frustrating trying to do the REPCONN station 6 times in a row. All of the mods that are appearently supposed to "fix" it are nvse plugins.

In the discussion https://steamcommunity.com/app/22380/discussions/0/1694914735989866896/
a dude states "NVSE doesn't include the folders because they would be empty. NVAC does include them however—you can simply extract to the data folder and you'll be set." I have no clue what he means by this.

What I've been getting my directions off of
http://nvse.silverlock.org/ - "Copy the .dll and .exe files to your Fallout NV directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder under Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\. If you see files named FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher.exe, this is the correct folder. Do not copy these files to the Data folder as with a normal mod.
I added the scr file as well cause i was told that is where you'd put the mods by some youtube video. A video that i can no longer find for whatever reason."

Other source
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?tab=description - "Since it's an NVSE plugin, nvac.dll goes in your Data/NVSE/Plugins folder."
No damn plugin folder!

I refuse to get nexus mod manager cause its a piece of♥♥♥♥♥♥

Another thing ive noticed is on the silverlock website it said that it can be run through steam - "Enabling the Steam Community option (enabled by default) will allow you to launch the game via Steam's standard UI.", but now that i have NVSE clicking play on the game in my library no longer works. Steam also refuses to check integrity of game files now. I know that nvse is working because if i go into the console on fallout new vegas and type "GetNVSEVersion" it says the version is 5. I have been loading it off of my files - "NVSE_Loader.exe" I have never changed my steam settings so if it is truely enabled by defult, it should work. And only god knows where this "Steam community option" is. Cause it sure as hell isnt in steam settings.

I also am unable to set my game to windowed due to my launcher not showing up when i launch the game. Goes straight onto the main menu.
Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

Use the patched exe from the 4gb patcher, as it automatically loads NVSE, not the other way around.
If you're missing a plugins folder, then just make one, it's that simple.
No, when i use the 4gb patcher.exe it just says fallout new vegas has already been patched. Thats it

How will i know if the mod is working once i put it into my newly created plugins folder.

That also doesnt explain why it wont let me launch the game through steam. the NVSE Loader.exe is the only application in my files that lets me play the game. The normal fallout new vegas stopped working once i got nvse

Ah, okay.
So, the 4gb Patcher actually patches the default game launcher, so FalloutNVLauncher is all you need to launch the game.
FalloutNVPatch is no longer necessary.

With NVSE in the your 'data' folder, you should be good to go.
As long as NVAC is in your Data/NVSE/Plugins folder, it will be active.
Launch with FalloutNVLauncher directly and start the game once, then try the steam launcher.
Okay thats all well and good but for some reason all my files on my D: drive are shown on my desktop, im afraid to delete them for when i tried it showed it was deleting 400gb. i dont think a few shortcuts to files are 400gbs

No, you seem to have something installed on your desktop folder.

Based on your posts… are you sure you know how to use a desktop Windows? Because the answer to your original woe would also have been "then just create that folder structure yourself and copy the files over".

If i knew how to use it i wouldnt be asking lmao. I fixed my original problem and the nvse plugins working great. But now my desktop became my D: file (i was trying to transfer my desktop file into my D: drive since my C: drive had no room, but then it became the D: drive instead of going into it). How to a reset it back?

I'm sorry I am really late you probably got it working but, it's 2021 I'm having a similar issue. Vortex downloaded my mods into a 'staging' file separate from my games folder. From watching videos I found out I had to move my NVSE folder into the data folder, then go to the staging folder and open up a mod your installing/testing. I found that there's a plugins folder on some mods which I moved over to the NVSE instead of making my own, I got a new vegas tick fix to work this way. It's tedious and other mods might be installed differently but if you need a plugins folder just make it or steal it from a mod! (you probably have one downloaded anyways).

You need to use a mod manager if you're using more than a few mods and MO2 is the best mod manager out there, far superior to NMM and even the new Vortex. I started out first with NMM and tried a few others for all different games and discovered MO2 is the best of them all, so if your game, like any of the Fallout games, supports MO2, definitely use it. There are videos on YouTube showing how to use MO2 if you're unsure. Here's the Github link for the latest releases of MO2: https://github.com/Modorganizer2/modorganizer/releases

From reading the rest of your comments, it appears that you may lack the knowledge to run mods and are missing some basic computer skills. I know you just want to play the game but if you want to use mods, you MUST take the time to read each mod as every mod is different and some require different settings, folders, patches, updates, etc. You also have to take the time to figure out what mods may conflict and make sure you have them sorted in the correct order using LOOT and manually checking the load order yourself. Using mods correctly is not easy and takes time but it's time that is required or you'll end up with a game constantly crashing or freezing and that will waste even more time. It takes a while to get all your mods set up correctly but you have to do that before you start your game. If you don't want to take all that time to set up the mods properly, just play the game vanilla. Also, never change, add, or remove mods once you've started your game because that can cause problems down the line even if it seems to work fine at first.

This thread is 5 years old.

Quick aside though - LOOT is useless for NV. The masterlist is not updated, so it's literally just a random load order shuffle. Manual is the only effective method for NV.
