My combat skills went to zero
Hello there! I have been playing some lonesome road lately. I got to the part where ed-e zaps me and than flies away. So than there are those two deathclaws in my way so i try to shoot them with my sniper rifle, but it sways really badly which is strange since it was perfectly stable a few minutes ago! I look through my skills and stuff and i realise all of my combat related skills went to literal 0. I tried sleeping thinking it's just an effect that will last for a few hours becaue of something, but pretty much nothing helps. Is it because of the special grenade that decreases enemy's combat effectivity? Is there a fix for it? I don't really have spare saves so i'm in a pretty bad situation.

Use console commands to set the stats in question back to the desired variable.

This can be accomplished by typing in 'player.setav skillname variable'. So for example, if you wanted to max out your speech skill you would open the console using the ~ key located under the escape (ESC) key. Then you would type in player.setav speech 100. This should set your speech to the max amount of 100.

Continue this process for any of the skills you want to improve. Just replace speech with for example Guns or Explosives and set the desired amount ranging from 0 to 100.

I wouldn't recommend using forceav or setav unless you absolutely have to, as it tends to muck things up down the line when the variables in question change again. Use modav instead.

I mean, i tried fixing it with YUP, but i'm not sure if i need to make a new save to make it work or not.

Thanks talga, i hope this helps.

Helpful comments, helped me too!
So what I had to do was to:
1. Use console to set my skills back.
2. Install YUP (just type "Fallout NV YUP" in browser, you'll get it).

Console command examples (command skill_name value).
I suggest trying modav first. If that doesn't help then setav and forceav as a last hope.

player.modav energyweapons 95
player.modav explosives 99
player.modav unarmed 50
player.modav meleeweapons 100
player.modav guns 156

I made this post almost 2 years ago, but thanks man. I already finished fallout nv a couple of times, but I always avoided flash bangs haha

i've occasionally had a beer that refused to go away, but its typically cured by resting in a bed.

but this is apparently a different bug. never used flashbangs myself so Ive never experienced this.

to newcomers

this is the flashbang bug

shortly: flash grenade drops your weapon skill level to zero, but due to bug it won't restore it after some time like it should.
And Ulysses loooves throwing flash grenades, so just reload game before u got flashbanged

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
