Map size?

So looking online, i found that the map seems very, very small. It looks as if a city takes up half of it, and theres barely any other room. It almost looks like it would take less than 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other, and that the areas could be explored in just a few hours.

It is the same map size as FO3 and FO4, actually.
It takes about 15-20 minutes to run diagonally from one end to the other (depending whether you used a mod to remove all invisible walls), but actually exploring all locations (and their interiors, when applicable), usually takes 20-250 hours, depending on your approach. And this is just filling out their map data on your PipBoy, we haven't talked about actual quests yet. Doing all quests and finding all unique loot usually takes 60-300 hours on the first run.
