This game is abbhorently easy, don't be too happy.
im was playing in hardcore.....
Haha game is still pretty easy even in hardcore. If you really want a challenge, then I suggest the classic games. Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics. Although sniper builds are still a tiny bit broken in those games as well.
I have fallout 1 in my library when they were giving it free

Yeah its tough, but sniper builds are definitely viable in that game too.

If you think sniper is OP, go for a proper Melee or Unarmed character.

Seriously, get the right perks and you're pretty much invincible.
Just run up to anyone (including the Legendary Deathclaw) and start hitting.
They'll drop before you do... XD
Every build is OP. Sniper is just the most basic most players discover on their own. Still, if you want to measure it by pure damage dealt, then nothing beats unarmed, melee can only come really close.
if u really want a challenge yourself then u should try the dust mod. some say that mod is like hell
Fallout 1 and 2 were easy in that reloading your gun takes 4 AP, or you could open your inventory, reload your gun for 4 AP, and while you are there consume as many stimpacks as you need to top off.

Fallout 1 had the Turbo Plasma rifle which was super fast and relatively easy to obtain and pretty much killed everything and could be dominated around level 9

Fallout 2 had a level cap of 99 not that you'd get there. but there were random encounter caves with monsters in them that melee. the 'deathclaws' had 50 HP and dropped 250 XP, the Molerats were 300 XP and could be killed with headshot instant death criticals and such. you'd be able to with a decent gun like say a hunting rifle manage to get a reasonably high level.

Proper selection of perks and skills. Couple interesting notes.

If you take better criticals the strongest critical is now upgraded to instant death. which you can hit a target for no damage and skill kill it.

Bonus ranged damage is +2 damage per bullet, so with a 10 round burst its +20 damage. Can be taken twice.

Tag perk doubles points already spent in a skill, if you double a skill and it goes to 300, you can pull points off it, and get them added back into your poll to raise every skill to like 150 instead.

at a high enough level you can meet a merchant north of Modoc I think around level 20. Merchant randomly carries an alien blaster. don't bother talking to him, just steal his inventory. He'll carry multiple copies. Range is only 10 but it does massive damage and shoots fast.

Sometimes he gets eaten by golden Geckos, doesn't stop him from spawning again later. His guards don't seem to care if he dies.

burst builds with bonus ranged are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous, you get a p90 and brd it's over, everything dies
