What is the best armor in the game?(no dlc)

I personally think the Enclave power armor, t51 power armor , mark2 combat armor and a fully fixed ncr veteren ranger armor all of this have saved me of a deathclaw or a surprise rape by the legion on low health

Definately the Enclave armor, tho for looks I like the Ranger armor.

Depends on your play style.
Of the medium/heavy armours, Gannon's Family Armour, but you cannot get it up until you are ready to start the final mission (granted, it can still be around 15% of your play through).
Of the light ones, the praetorian armour, or if you don't mind something heavier and fragile, the Vault 34 security outfit. Granted, light armour as a category is rather bad without DLCs.
