Report a translation problem
normally ( at least it is claimed to be )
fnv is multicore capable ( quadcore designed )
however, the engine is still based around dual core in essence
most people have no need for it
yet 5 days ago someone had issues and this fixed it just like the default option for fo3 ( which can't live without it )
find the ini ( for fnv it's falloutdefault.ini under the steamapps/comomn/falloutnewvegas/.... ( somewhere there ) i believe :) )
make changes
bUseThreadedAI=0
CHANGE to bUseThreadedAI=1
Immediately after this line, ADD this new line:
iNumHWThreads=2
again, they claim it's not a must
yet it can't hurt
if it crashes on startup directly, chances are ( just like fo3 ) it's screwing up on your ( probably ) multicore setup
---
also do mod
get casm ( GET IT... save corruption WILL happen... casm minmizes that chance )
get the 4gb exe to allow the game to acces 4 gb instead of the default 2 ( i assuem youhave more then 2gb ram on your system available :p )
YUP ( the unofficial patch ( i think this should adress the core issue by default )
anticrash ( if it crashes to much for no reason )
other then that, it WILL crash and it WILL hang on saveloading ( there is nothing to fix it, it just is, accept it :) )
( make sure task manager is set to be in the foreground so you can forcefully shut it down if it hangs !!!!!!! )
-----------
now if you mod with heavy things ( not the above ones )
there is a default memory leak with this game, which leaves it to just pile up pointless data until it can't handle it no longer and crashes
modding only makes this worse the more you put in
( but the default does as well, just takes a bit longer :p )
type "pcb" in console every once in a while to forcefully unload cell buffers
( ake force the game to forget certain places it has loaded before but you aren't going to visit again any time soon... there is no need to keep a memory of them if you aren't going back :) )

fallout's aren't the most optimized or performance friendly games outt there ( no point in denyin that, they are )
and the older they get ( read, the more hardware improves ) it's only going to get worse
they need some tlc at this point to get most out of them :)
° as for stutter remover mentioned in there
from what i understand it only delays the inevitable for a bit... doesn't fix it, just give you 30 minutes extra before it starts to lose frames ( which is inevitable, the longer you play, the worse it gets )
hit that quicksave a lot ^^
and just hardsave and quit out after 1.5 hours
then restart
and play for another 1.5
quit out
etc
every restart is a fresh one making the piles of data stacking up less of an issue :)
TRYING to get an ENB on there but whenever I do, I'm back to square one with crashes at start. I'm following the videos/instructions step by step.
Any chance you'd be able to help in that arena?
get anti crash
are you using fomm
if not, use fomm
never go manual
I've got nexus mods manager. Never used FOMM
I figured out how to get an ENB on there... but now i've got a new issue.
The ENB preset I'm running is Enhanced Shaders with Nevada Skies. Everything was working... had all the stuff properly installed UNTIL the Nevada Skies files went in. These are supposedly required for the ENB really to do anything (unless I'm reading this wrong... again... don't know ♥♥♥♥ about computers or any of this stuff really) and I thought I had installed the Nevada Skies presets properly... but the game loads up till the main menu and the HUD never comes up.
Then the game crashes. And I'm not really sure how to back out of it at this point because it's all manual install so getting the right files in or out is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack, even with only a few mods actualy installed
manual would be your first problem :p
nmm should allow you to install everythign trough it ( effectively making it so you have to only check a little box to have them run or not )
now i don't know nmm myself as it's crap with bigger mods ( and i'm running ttw, you can't get much bigger :p )
so i personally ( as well as anyone here really ) would recommend "fomm"
it's extremely accessible
download the zipfiles containing the mods you want
go into fomm
select the zipfile ( usually a fomod if they are bigger like nevada skies ) ( also download fomods if available )
and load it up
then hit launch nvse ( always trough fomm ) and you'll be good to go
if there are errors in requirements fomm will tell you about it as well
-----------------
again, from what i understand, nmm should be not much different
------------------
as for the enb, if it says it requires nevada skies it WILL
it's going to be a mashup of other mods then ( but instead of using the full venue of nevada skies ( which is pretty demanding on your system ) it's probably taking snippets from it to enhance the skybox and cut out the actual weather part )
for that you will need some of the files that nevada skies offers as it said
those will indeed be manual drag 'n drops, no way around that
however, you could as well install nevada skies outright and not have it be snipped appart
if the enb only needs part of it it will use that part alongside the acutal nevada skies ( which will then controll the weather ) ( unless on nexus it is stated to be incompatible ofcourse !!! )
so if possible it's probably better to
a. look for anohter enb
b. just get nevada skies and your enb to the rest of the enb stuff alongside it
c. just get skies and no enb ?
now, what i do know is that nevada skies is very picky and has some demands :p
for instance it DEMANDS to be loaded last as an .esp
anywhere not last and it get's upset
as you only use some textures and stuff from it ( unlike the esp itself ) that shouldn't be to much of an issue
then again.... it's modding.... who knows what i does and does not like :p
so it's probalby best to set skies up as a full mod and have it be pleased on all it's silly demands :)
you'll need enbseries ( insert number here ) as well ( they shoudl state whatever you need on the description )
can you link the nexus page so i can take a look ^^
----------------
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/63748
if this then
NEVADA SKIES: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998
ENHANCED SHADERS ENB: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/49882
ENB SERIES 278: http://enbdev.com/mod_falloutnv_v0278.htm
you'll need that enb series to supor the actual enb
you'll NEED FULL NEVADA SKEIS ( take in mind this will drop your frames )
----------
now as far as enb's go
technically all they do is mess around with the gamma and add some shadows ( which is a good way to drop frames for soemthing you hardly notice )
to get somewhat of the same effect
i'd suggest
nevada skies - just as it is ( it does pretty much what the more visual part of any enb does and then does weather as well )
streetlights ( to compensate for the darker nights )
flashlight nvse ( to comensate for the darker nights )
honestly, if nevada skies is installed propperly ( trough the fomod ) it does pretty much allyou want
lighting redesing
weather
skybox
most of everything noticable
as an example of just nevada skeis and no other enb tweaks
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1398731758
this is probaby the type of god rays and skybox you had in mind
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1395265114
the darker night ( even the lightest possible version ) suported by streetlights end flashlight nvse
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1395351720
just a screenshot ( the greener more lively look is flora overhaul for fallout 3... fnv should have it's counterpart somewhere )
( ignore the fact it's fo3.. like i said i play ttw nowadays to support fo3 better )
( nevada skies look the exact same in the fnv worldspace )
Cheers
