Recommend mods (survival/missions/mechanics)
Hey everyone.

Just looking for some mod recommendations. Looking to enhance the overall gameplay experience, moreso than just on a visual level (though any recommendations there are appreciated too). Looking for anything that might make the game and its mechanics more in-depth, or for solid additional mission content.

Anything you can highly recommend, please throw my way. Played the game, originally, on the 360. I find the game to, easily, be the best of the "re-imaginings", if you will. Had it in my Steam account for a while, and want to re-play the game, in as interesting a way as possible.

For gameplay, either JSawyer or Project Nevada - I prefer PN because it is customizable ingame and doesn't make some story elements make no sense at all. It doesn't do as much as JSawyer, but I find it to do a good job and again, it doesn't break some parts of the lore.

AWOP for harder encounters, plus additional encounters.

TTW to bring the Capital Wasteland in as additional content.

For graphics, NMC and Ojo Bueno for textures, plus whatever else strikes your fant'sy.

Add in ENB - custom, just enable SSAO and Detailed Shadows, combined with DYNAVISION for everything else (customizable easily ingame).

Its broken beyond belief on Win10 an will cause more crashes than ever before. (If using Win7 fire away)

Mod recommendations though, I'll try to list some that haven't already been said.
EAD adds a fun but difficult learning curve to the game

Project Ultimatum adds a couple of nifty little side mechanics
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40593
Endless Warfare adds a heap of encounters that can really challenge you if not prepared (fully customizable)

Enemy AI and Tactics Overhaul makes the combat into less of the enemies walking straight into your line of fire

Ah. Still running Windows 7. The recommendations are appreciated though.

Actually all you need to do is disable HookCriticalSections to prevent the crashing.

Admittedly that reintroduces the Cell Load stutter, but you'll at least get the fix for the 64hz Microstutter.

Adding to this (though I don't bother with ENBs and just use Imaginator) I would add

Inheritance
Someguyseries - Russell
Also, JIP for Companions
Mobile Truck / Van

Not sure if you mean survival literally, but there is a hardcore refined rates mod that makes the food/dehydration/sleep stuff tick at an actually challenging rate. You can no longer go for two in-game weeks before suffering mild sleep deprivation

NVSR works fine on Win10 with the commonly available tweaks, at least on my install. I am using a fast ring Insider build though, so my experience may be atypical.

Good choices, I forgot about Someguy.

ENB is the only way to get dynamic sun shadows, and has the best looking SSAO, both of which have massive impact on how good the game looks (I've got a pair of recent before/after screenshots, the difference is massive). I don't use any ENB presets, but again for those two functions (plus ENBoost for stability), it is worth just downloading vanilla ENB just to turn those on.

Edit: why not link them, I guess -

For everything else, I agree that Imaginator/Dynavision are a better way to handle it. Noting really beats shadows and AO to make things feel less "disconnected" from the world, IMO.

Those look great BTW!

I have nothing against ENB other than it's something else for people to install and have their game not run well (presets) or they mess something up and it breaks the game.

I might give it a try, since your screenshots do look nice; I should post some before/after of Imaginator. It took awhile to get a setting I liked but it's amazing how much better the game looks just adjusting the FX and with no impact, unless using the horizonclean/blur which I do without issue.

I was talking on survival. I like the idea of it, but I felt that NV had it far too easy to manage, whereas I thought that Fallout 4 handled it annoyingly; with the application, itself, being handled well, but the incessant spawning of legendary creatures being far too commonplace.

Sawyer Mode actually rebalances the Survival (and Radiation) rates in a nice way.

The initial threshold of deprivation is higher, but the subsequential stages come faster.

This means you can actually wait to get the most out of the high-end Restoration items like Caravan Lunches, but not taking the time to resupply means you can find yourself in the advanced stages of deprivation very quickly, especially with low survival.

Combine that with heavily reduced Carry Weight and It's a good balance between being a minor issue like in Vanilla and Babysitting your character like in FO4.

Yep, I feel like that's a good combo. I actually softlocked a character that rushed to mothership zeta from the start (playing TTW as well) because the dehydration went up so quickly that the few first aid kits with water in them were not enough to keep me alive, I had to spawn some in
