Did it work before?
Do you run programs like Overwolf or Raptr, maybe DisplayLink?
Miyoi Mar 12, 2018 @ 8:00am
Before I uninstalled it, it worked. But after I uninstalled it and re installed a month later it stopped working. First the resolution wasn't supported but after installing a mod that makes the game borderless the windowed mode error appeared (I uninstalled the mod after)

Go to Documents\My Games\falloutnv and delete the INI files. Set them up again through the launcher's settings menu. It should work again.

I followed your steps and launching the launcher after deleting the ini files triggered it to detect my hardware and then a few seconds later the launcher crashed. Then I got this error after retrying to load up the game
Failed to initialize renderer
Your display doesn't support the selected resolution. Please set a different resolution in fallout new vegas's launcher under display settings
I try to change the resolution settings but the box is completely white making me unable to change the resolution

alright. I think nothing wrong with that so far.

Exit out of steam.
Repeat the steps talgaby said. Delete Fallout.ini and FalloutNVPrefs.ini in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV.
After that open up steam again and verify the integrity of the game cache (Library->rightclick on fallout->properties-> local files).
Then you should be able to set the right resolution in standard Fallout Launcher by first selecting the right screen ratio.
Make sure to disable windowed mode.

I followed your steps and verified the game twice but the resolution box is still empty searching through all the widescreen options and the standard one.
Fifty Fathoms Mar 13, 2018 @ 12:42pm
I'm afraid I'm running out of ideas then. Maybe except changing some .dlls to simulate a different display adapter. But I've never done that.

If nobody else has an idea at least worth a try. Make a backup from the original files first.

Oh, also, make sure you run Steam as an admin, so the launcher inherits that. Maybe it wasn't able to write in the Documents folder, this is why it couldn't initialise itself.

ive been having this problem as well, fresh install wil no mods. followed the steps as stated with running it all as admin, and im getting 1 files failed to verify, any ideas to fix that?
