What do I do once I create a merge patch?
So once you've created a merged patch with everything you need (in my case all my enabled mods and all official DLC) is it safe to just deactivate everything included in the patch? Including DLC or do I keep that enabled??

no, you'll need the merged patch's masters files to be enabled. in nother words you need your mods to be enabled. patch goes on the bottom of your load order.

I'm only wondering this because I heard that creating merged patches help bypass the 139 mods limit, is this true?

oh sorry i should ask if your using FONVEdit (or whatever its called)or Wrye Bach. wrye bach turns off the mods that it uses (i think, i use it for Skyrim. its the same mod/ Mod manager). so use that. i never used it with FONV. have you enabled 4gb. think you need a mod called 4gb enabler. its been awhile since i played FONV so sorry about that. but i don't remember having to worroy about a mod limit. well i never got more than that i don't think i mainly just used graphic mods. And sorry for my horrable spelling.

I use FNVEdit and have the 4GB patch

FNVedit only merge masters/ have mods work with each other. i found something https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35003
it says 255 limit. witch is the same for all Fallouts and Elder scrolls(i don't know any thing about 1&2) anyway cheak out this mod/manager

Creating a merged patch does not help with the plug-in limit. A bashed patch or manually merging them does. A merged patch just tries to ensure more compatibility among your various mods.
