[SOLVED] Unknown error: Error Creating the Gamebryo renderer
I've been seeing this non-stop after uninstalling the ENB files I had, and nothing has fixed it. Everything below I have tried and hasn't worked in the slightest (for reference, when I uninstalled the ENB files, I followed the recommended procedure, and that did nothing):

-Reinstalling the game
-Using an old backup
-Reinstalling ANY drivers (DirectX,C++ 2008,dotNET,GPU drivers themselves etc)
-Refreshing all current mods (I have deleted all/some of them, both to no avail)
-Adding bUseThreadedAI=1 and iNumHWThreads=2 to both the 'default.ini' and 'prefs.ini'
-Using NVAC did nothing, even with NVSE and the 4GB patcher
-Resetting the resolution of both the game in its '.ini' files and on my monitors settings page
-Reinstalling then deleting the 'd3d9.dll' ENB file via the recommended methods
-Using 'Verift game cache' by deleting the '.exe' and many others
-Getting the NMM to invalidate/remove extra plugins and superfluous files
-Disabling/Enabling drivers
-Using older NVidia drivers
-Using older DirectX drivers

EVERYTHING above hasn't worked. It's been 8 hours. God help me.

Specs:
Core: i7-4790 @ 3.60GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
GTX 1050ti
Windows 10 Pro

Monitor:
Native res: 1920x1080 (only using 1 monitor)

UPDATE: I reinstalled NVSE, NVAC and the 4GB patcher. I can't test any of them, because I still get this ****ing error when trying to tun FNV via the 'nvse_loader.exe'

It is normal nothing you tried worked because it is a windows problem not really related to the game. The Gamebryo error is only the symptom, it could happen when launching Adobe Illustrator as well. Your graphic card device is scrambled, it happens from time to time, most often when an old program has changed the screen resolution. The solution is to uninstall and reinstall the graphic card (not physically, it is a software problem)

Open windows parameters, go to device manager and uninstall your graphic card driver. confirm the action and the screen will turn black and reopen in 640X480 16 colours. If not, remove the card completely (in the device manager, not from the computer case)

When it's done shut down the computer (turn off power).

Then restart the system. The card should be detected and re-enabled automatically and the Nvidia manager should adjust the correct values by itself.
Right-click anywhere on the screen to bring Nvidia panel and adjust the graphic options. There should be no need to reenable the driver manually in the device manager but you can check it to see if everything is ok.

When you launch the game it will do an autodetection and rewrite the renderer. You can adjust the parameters here.
It will solve the problem.

Will definitely try that. Thanks.

I figured eventually it was a Windows error, because if I ran the game with my GPU drivers disabled it worked just fine, mods and all (but ofc with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ framerate).

I just finished doing exactly as you said, now the game thinks I'm running a 8800 GS, and I'm still getting the renderer error

*UPDATE* It's detecting that the GPU is a 1050ti again, but the renderer error is still happening

can you let me know what you do to end up getting it to work because im having same problems you are

@Andrew12875

If youre having the same error as me, as as recently as me, then it has to be the recent Windows update. Not the first time its buggered up a game for me. Plus, everything was working before this update, so I'm waiting until a week or so from now. If it still doesnt work, Imma roll back the Windows update because nothing seems to fix this

I ended up fixing it by deleting all my new vegas mods and re installing the game, now just to re download them all again lol

Microsoft likes to make the user's life miserable, isn't it ?

Yes, the GTX 1050 didn't exist at the time the game was released, it chooses the closest he knows. You can ignore it, it will fix itself without needing any action.

But I realize I forgot to say reinstall the NVidia driver with the "new install" option to remove the old driver once the card is reinitialized. Again the game will check the system and choose a wrong card but it is not important

Normally the game is listed in the Nvidia panel when you search programs installed in the 3D parameters. if you select it it will do the job by itself and use the settings you chose there. Just be careful with the recommended screen resolution, it can be exotic. If it offers you the option, enter the right values.

The error message is not clear but it means an incompatible screen size found by the engine. Then you need to adjust the resolution manually.

You will probably not find the good resolution in the game options so ensure the falloutprefs.ini file (in the document folder, not in game folder) is write enabled and open it :
- Search for isize W and isize H and enter 1920 and 1080.
- Search for the line bIgnoreResolutionCheck=0 and change it to bIgnoreResolutionCheck=1

Save and try to launch the game. I hope this time it will work.If it doesn't, then I am sorry but I have no more ideas.

Edit : As you say it can also be due to a recent windows update. But I just tried to launch my own game and it works with windows updated. Perhaps the nvidia driver, too ? I use old versions : 391.01 and 390.77 and both work.

TBH it might be the nvidia driver (397.93). Ill have to see in regards to that.

Obv FNV came out a while back, so I wasn't all that surprised when it picked the 8800 GS. Ill rumble around in the .ini files and see what I can do, thanks.

Did that twice, hasn't worked for me hence why I believe it's a driver issue

Delete all the config INI files from the game's Documents folder. ENB saves data in them, and even though you tried to tinker with the files, that data was still there. You must recreate them through the launcher config menu afterwards.

Also, as an additional safety measure, use this modified DLL that has been used to remedy an other engine initialisation error: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34778/

Oh, and just for precaution: did you, by any chance, install any program between the time the game was working and not? There are a few that prevent the engine from loading.

I got it fixed, in a rather odd way. The first time I uninstalled it I removed the mods first, THEN uninstalled and that still gave me the error.

Yesterday I uninstalled, THEN removed the mods and reinstalled. That seems to have fixed it.
