Missing Textures in Fallout New Vegas.
So, I have New Vegas with all the dlc installed and so I decided to play it. I downloaded a couple mods to make it look better and everything seemed fine, but then i decided to change up the textures. So I uninstalled the NMC's Texture packs and decided to go with Charges's FNV HD textures. Followed the instructions to a T.

So I boot up the game and it seems fine, got to the title screen and noticed an image was missing but didn't think much of it. Then I load the save and everything had gone to hell. Every time I moved the textures for the ground flashed and changed into some bs! some squares were metal with gears and wires and some were wood or sand or something. The only working textures were the guns, clothing, and skin.

Now, I don't know what to do. I verified the files for the game (always says there is only 1 file missing) and that doesn't work. I removed the mods (made the problem worse. its like once the files were modded then unmodded they couldn't be recovered) I went back to using the older texture mod but the houses and bushes and some other stuff was still messed up. I reinstalled the game and it still didn't work. It will not let me recover the files. So, any useful advice? please let me know.

Mod list:

New Vegas stutter remover
NVAC
JIP LN NVSE plugin
One Tweak
Unlimited Companions
Perk every level
fellout
Large Texture Support - ENB Boost - mod
All Charge's x4 texures

I also have enb for the x4 texture mod as well as the 4gig fnv patch.

I am also using Vortex to install these mods.

Hi!

What you could do, is locate the file for NMC texture mod, if you deleted it, re-download it but not install. Open up the textures folder in NMC's mod file and take a look at the .dds files in there.

Stick that to one side of your screen and then navigate to your New vegas root folder (with new vegas.exe in it - steam \steamapps \common \fallout new vegas \data \textures); Open up the data folder and look at the textures folder in there. If there are still .dds files that you can compare with the mod's folder on other side of screen, then simply identify them and remove them from your fallout new vegas data folder.

Re-install your new texture mod and then check in a NEW game to see if you did indeed have loose files that should now (if you found any) be gone.

EDIT: You could also, instead of the 4gb patch mod, try this, which incorporates it:

See how you go and report back here :104:

Disable and re-enable archive invalidation. The game does not know to load the loose files and loads whatever it finds first with a similar name.

This might just fix the issue outright.

So the Archive invalidation stuff didn't work, and I'm not quite Sure what you want me to do though. Where do I open up the NMC mod? Do you want me to download it manually and look at the files that way?

Ok I just delete the texture folder in data and it fixed everything. I thank the both of you for your help.
woo! And nice one, talgaby. Double team :)

Hey, kagenogetsu, if you haven't already, check out Gopher on you tube. He has done so many tutorials if you just wanna check into them every now and then just to catch up. I have modded for years and often check in from time to time just because I forget stuff all the time :)

This is Gopher's New Vegas tutorials. They may appear outdated at some points, but it's all the basics and very helpful info :)

I've been watching his skyrim content for years but never thought to check out tutorials. I'm decent at modding a game, its just that fallout 3 and new vegas are so weird to mod. Always a problem lol. Thank you though. If you have any recommended mods for new vegas that don't involve adding more content then let me know.
No worries.

I have noticed some good mods in the pinned threads on here, some I used to use myself.

"REach for the sky, mister!" hehe

The pinned threads are very outdated, but their poster is not around here any more to keep them updated. If you want a curated "essentials" type mod pack, probably the easiest is the "NUCLEAR MODLIST 2019" on the Nexus.
