Vortex and hard drive space

I just downloaded Vortex mod manger and when I try to download a mod it says my disk space is full. Vortex is downloaded on my D drive and that is also the location of my mod folder. My D drive has like 800 gigs left yet it wont download, Help.

It downloads to the download folder first on C:\.
The other explanation is that you are not running it as an admin or the folder it tries to download to has different NTFS security settings than the one you opened it from. Although that should not happen on any PC.

How do I change where it downloads to?

Probably in its settings. I use MO2, so I do not have Vortex installed to check now.

In Vortex click on Settings in the left hand column. Then click the Mods tab at the very top. You should see at the very top a line called the Mod Staging Folder. Here you can select where you want Vortex to download.

If you're new to Vortex, I'd advise to take the time to go through the provided tutorials. There's differences in Vortex when compared to the old NMM. I found there was a moderate learning curve involved in using Vortex, but I find it much better than NMM. Never used Mod Manager, but some players really like it.

I'm having this same issue except I have it set to stage and download to the D: drive, I manually downloaded the mod to the D: drive but for some reason, vortex keeps trying to copy this 7gb mod to the C: drive which doesn't have enough space.
