MCM refuses to work with Project Nevada
I've been at this for hours now. I'm almost at my wit's end here.

Everytime i enter the game, and hit ESC to access MCM, i get this error:

"The mod configuration menu had detected an unexpected version of menu files. you will need to reinstall MCM, overwriting any existing files."

I read online that Project Nevada overwrites MCM, so you need install it after project Nevada so the MCM can overwrite PN's files. Which I've done. Several times. I tried deleteing PN, and it worked fine. I tried installing PN after MCM, and vice versa. Nothing changed.I've tried just about every single troubleshooting method i can find online. Absolutely nothing is working. Is it because i'm using Vortex? I have no idea. Please, any help would be appreciated!

I can't think what the issue might be but you can rule out Vortex probably. I just reintalled my full mod list from NMM to Vortex this week and PN and the MCM both work together for me.

Two comments on your load order: The first might help, the second is a general observation. If you already have them, I apologize for wasting your time.

"UIO" https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/57174 This is an fairly modern NVSE plugin to help UI/HUD issues and is intended to replace some older reconciliation programs.

"Project Nevada Patches" https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42363 You should use the EVE patch if you haven't already. That said, I doubt missing this would cause your problem.

This was it. i don't understand it, but it worked. I had to uninstall PN but after overwriting it's files with MCM. Then reinstalling PN which kept my MCM files as primary. And then it just worked.

The reason is that PN has its own MCM files, so it does not have to rely on anything and be a standalone mod. But they did not have permission to integrate it as a whole, so it is only some menu files which are older than the actual MCM ones. So, if you install PN, you overwrite parts of MCM with outdated files and completely break the menu system. This is why you get that error, the internal checks fail because they are supposed to.
