NVSE not working, game not launching

I recently ran into a problem where when I try to play from steam, it opens the launcher menu and when I press play, the launcher goes away but the game itself doesnt launch. When I try to open it from Nexus, it will play but none of my mods work anymore, I keep getting messages ingame saying "one or more mods you are using require nvse" and says I have version 0.00 despite my nsve being installed properly and updated, and pretty much none of the mods I have work. Is there a fix? Or am I gonna have to back to playing vanilla FNV

Are you sure it is properly installed? Did you, by any chance, use WinRAR to extract it?

Did you test your NVSE by double-clicking nvse_launcher.exe, and then when the main menu comes up opening the console and typing
getnvseversion and hitting "enter"? It should reply "NVSE version: 5. If it doesn't, your NVSE is not installed correctly.

Two other thoughts (assuming correct installation of all items, and also assuming your are using NMM because you said "When I try to open it from Nexus"):

1. In your mod manager, is the launch button button set to "Launch NVSE" or "Launch Fallout: New Vegas"? This button should be set to "Launch NVSE" if you haven't already done that.

2. Launching the game from your Steam Library "Play" button will not start nvse_launcher.exe. Thus, NVSE and its dependent mods will not work if you start your game this way. The exception to this statement is if you have correctly installed the 4gb Patcher https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/62552

You need the 4gb/nvse patcher that sets NV to launch the nvse window on its own rather than needing to launch the exe separately.

Figured it out. I had nvse as a mod in NMM as well, and once I disabled that it worked fine. Thank you all anyway
