Converting Fallout New Vegas Xbox 360 saves to PC in 2019?
Hello Gamers

I love Fallout New Vegas, and so does my dad. I just set up a computer for him to play New Vegas for the first time on PC (Gonna set him up with a few mods too), but he has already started another playthough on the 360, and is multiple hours in. I have looked up multiple ways to get the 360 save converted to PC, but all my attempts have failed. I used Modio and got the error "Index out of range". I tried to just change the file type to .fos, but that created a corrupt save file that I could not open. The same thing happened when I used the program Horizon. I extracted the save file to the desktop giving it the .fos extension, and that did not work either. I assume that many of the older methods that used to work may have been patched out or something. \

If anyone has any way to transfer the 360 saves to PC successfully please let me know!

They use completely different save formats. It won't work. This is not like Borderlands, where they use slightly different encoding and that is that.

To be clear, are you saying Modio / Horizon throw this error when trying to decrypt the 360's files, or are you saying that the game throws this error when attempting to load the actual decrypted save?

Last I heard, Modio doesn't work anymore due to a reliance upon online servers that've been pulled down.

They're exactly the same, you just need to deal with the encryption layer the 360 adds on top of all of its saves. People have been doing this with various Bethesda titles for years.

Not the two old Fallouts to my knowledge. Skyrim was okay, but the FallOutSave formats use something different.

When I used Modio to decrypt the files it gave me the "Index out of range" error. Maybe the online service had something to do with it as you said. When I used Horizon everything seemed to be going fine until I got into the game and the save was shown up as corrupt. I found the game save using Horizon, extracted it to the desktop, changed the extension to .fos, and then put it into my saves folder. Am i missing a step?
