Running into something weird.
I've been attempting to replay NV for a while now and have been consistently halted by some sonic windows installer. I have looked on the internet and failed to find a solution. What happens is after so long of playing the game I am forced out of it to a windows installer window that does not allow me to play the game and causes it to go to a black screen. If anyone knows a solution to this please respond.

You have a virus/malware.

What exactly is popping up? I did a Google Search and came up with this.

it's Sonic CinePlayer Decoder pack. I don't know what it does or why it stops me from playing but it's doing it.

It is the codec pack that came when you installed Sonic DVD Decoder. Which is a pile of garbage, but that is not the point. New Vegas is extremely sensitive about the codecs installed on your system, and obviously does not like this one.

I don't recall installing it and I am unable to find it when I search my programs on the control panel.

If it is a laptop or some pre-built, it could be some pre-installed crap.

Well the reason I brought it up is that it didn't always do this. I have found a way around it, when it pops up if i'm quick enough I can still play the game without it stopping me. Thank you for your help in this. Whatever is causing it doesn't want to present itself through the task manager or the control panel.

If you're advanced enough, try using the Registry Editor.

You still haven't worked this out? Have you tried Revo Uninstaller? Registry is possible if you know what you're doing. Other choice is maybe going to a restore point, unless you've installed stuff since this started happening. And even then, the software could have been dormant for much longer than you knew it was there. I'd probably avoid using a restore point if I could.

Revo Uninstaller allows you to click on the software if it's open and grab it that way. I think it's called the 'hunter' feature.

Also, in the Task Manager did you check in Services for this or just Processes? Try checking under Roxio as well. When it pops up, can you get the exact name of the process or service from the title bar? It may be listed in start-up as well, if you're lucky.
