I cant save my game, nor can I overwrite any either, everytime I try to save or overwrite a save my game doesnt do anything and the previous save still stands.

Disable (and optionally re-enable) Steam Cloud for this game.

Check the save folder in Documents\My Games\falloutnv, maybe you lost the writing permissions on it. Check it for read-only status and its NTFS permissions.

1. How many save have you used?
It seems that the limit is 1000
2. Check your setting, some settings do not allow saving during battle or some other situations.

Your computer could be too full and not able to save any new file nor modify previous ones.

hello all, I am having the same issues, I have tried absolutely everything I can think of. Talgaby, I have seen your fixes for this problem on multiple threads and have tried every conceivable definition to no avail. Tried validating in steam and am told '1 file failed to validate and will be re-acquired' however contentiously get that message every time. As best i can tell, all permissions are set correctly in the 'security' tab, however in 'general' the file is set to read only. I uncheck and apply that, but upon closing and re-opening 'properties' it is again checked. I have tried manually taking ownership of the file and even the entire drive the fnv save file is on and still nothing. I have gotten the 'Failed to Enumerate Objects' error. I am at a loss here and any help would be greatly appreciated. I am coming back to fnv after a few months away (worked perfectly beforehand), have modded the game and usually run through FMM with no issues but tried also running through steam with the same problem. I apologise that this info isn't exactly concise, just adding details as i remember them.

run steam with admin permission.
check antivirus logs AGAIN. new definition file may have downloaded and is now blacklisting steam/game launcher/game
check windows security/controlled folder acess. windows update may have turned it on. if on, add exception for steam/game launcher/game.
mods? mod update/load order cause all kinds of problems.

All steam verification does is check if your INI files differ from the ones that come fresh with the game. THIS is why they're 'failing' because your changes effect the ini files, The ini files, Now different from the 'fresh' ones cause the verification to count them as 'failed'. MEaning any changes you did the the INI files are now undone and you're back at square 1. Verifying game files is the 'Did you turn it off and on again?' of steam problem solving.

Mugman mentioned controlled folder access , system folders are protected by default so if the game save files are in like a one drive folder under your profile , itll be blocked from saving . youd have turn off controlled folder access and save and then turn it back on to protect your system folders from getting hacked

I had the same issue recently. One evening, i could not load my game. I reinstalled. It didnt work. The only thing that worked was starting a new game then saving and then either quitting or load my old saved games. However, I could not saved a game. I did not notice last night, none of the autosaves updated or the multiple saves i had actually worked. I had to reinstall after. Its working now.

I've only got 33 saves and the game won't let me. I did get an error before hand that forced me to alt f4 New Vegas, probably telling me that I couldn't save anymore

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
