Game gets really slow
So I've seen about 2/3 of the game world, reached Lv.50, saved ~2000 times on 7 save slots and spent so far 219 hours in FNV. Still not nearly finished. But my problem is that the game starts getting really slow.

I've noticed that the vendors keep stock of everything I sell them. Opening the vendor in Big MT brings the game almost to its knees, because there are a few hundred items I've sold in the past.
And now even when I open drawers and shelves the game almost freezes. I keep about 10k of every ammo type in my inventory as well as a few thousand empty shells. Not sure if that's the problem. Or if it would solve anything if I put them in a drawer. Because they are still part of the world.

I use only a few mods. Fallout Mod Manager, NVSE, that 4GB Patch, MCM, JIP Companions & Plugin and 2-3 followers. And I tried installing bodies, which I pretty much messed up, but that's another story. Some of the NPCs look like mutations ever since, but I can deal with that...

Your save is bloated, the game needs to keep track of too many things at once, and this leaves less and less room for the engine to do its normal work.
I think NVAC and NVSR help with that. There's also a way to purge cells with the console which can help reduce the bloat.

Is there a way to fix this without losing my stuff? Or is it irreversible?
edit: The current size of the save file is 11,7mb

@ Baltimora: Thanks for the suggestion. Which one of them? Or both? I don't have good experiences with mods, so I usually try to keep them as few as possible.

edit: Tested the NVSR. The overall performance seems to have increased, but the game still slows down in the "Tops" in Vegas and a handful of other locations when saving or searching for stuff.
Maybe it's a local problem or a mod issue after all. I don't know.

Question Talgaby - how does one 'unbloat' a bloated save file? Seriously, it would seem that if the game had to 'remember' every dead body or odd item sold and to whom the game would bog down long before the OP's 219 hours of Play. Does the game have an auto cleanup algorithm that removes static bodies and sold items etc after a lenth of time so the OP could just load the game and 'wait out' the 'clear out' period to restore performance?

The NVAC (New Vegas Anti Crash) worked! I had no stutters in the last hours and even the rare crashes are gone. Thanks. I advise it for anyone with similar problems.

It runs so smooth now.
