how many times does it check reputations for Ulysses dialogue?

i tried to search this, both in these forums, and on google but coudnt find an answer (im sure its out there but ive never had much luck with search engines.) if you go back to the Mojave after talking to Ulysses through the Divide ED-E, will it lock in the dialogue for the faction you had then, or does it check your reputation each time Ulysses talks to you?

I read that to get the independant dialogue you have to have neutral or less rep with the NCR, Legion and The Strip. having bad rep with the Legion is no problem for me, but id rather not go on a killing spree to lower my rep with NCR or The Strip. espescially if i leave the Divide to do stuff in the Mojave and then have to go on more killing sprees to lower rep again before i go back into the Divide.

It should be every time.
And just use the faction fix mod for him, which uses quest stages rather than reputation, so you get locked in to a faction once you actively start working for them.
