Cross the river at the docks then cut a left until you hit a path on the right and don't forget your best weapons (I prefer Annabelle and High explosive missiles for that run).
Yeah, alpha dethclaws are nasty as h3ll in NV. Took me many runs and build refinements, but I managed to 1-shot both the male and female alphas. Anti-material rifle, exploding rounds, manicured perk tree & specials and lady luck!
There are also alphas in some caves if you want to hunt them - excellent xp farm if you're up to it and psycho enough.
Take care and enjoy a Wasteland Omelet or two.
Wow after probably a good 1000 hours in new vegas I never tried swimming across the river by the docks there, I always assumed I'd hit an invisible wall. How far can you travel across the river in vanilla?
Their attacks ignore all DT and DR, atleast New Vegas. XD
Dethclaws got some serious meat hooks on em' lol.
Yeah, you gotta have some fire power behind you when messing with the alpha models else it gets ugly pretty quickly.
@Psychotron666: I found the nest while just being nosey, exploring every inch of the game map, looking for markers I may have missed; etc. prior to the Hoover Dam finally in my "No Gods No Masters" run --many moons ago. Just got to go with curiousity as your guide exploring the NV wasteland; greed's somewhere in there too because material motivation in the Mojave is undeniable. LOL
the good ol' days.
Take care.

It's amazing how gamebreaking the Ranger Takedown is when any character regardless of unarmed skill can get it in the first hours of a playthrough.
I like to tweak until I start 1-shotting them - unfortunately, unless cmd line console A.Dethclaws are a limited resource. I also love me some 12.7 all up in a dethclaws face at close quarters - I generally go standard issue, but AP would work well on a DClaw too. HP and deathclaws equates to lots of wasted ammo - they have natural body armor, even in the oldies 1, 2 and Tactics. They were sissies in FO3 big time; was lvl 3 and man handled one and my experience with the franchise shouldn't mean a d^mn thing. I do like how Dclaws look in FO4 though - lots of alpha in them and very articulate. I love dethclaws.
Blew that nest up good with Annabelle a few times, but Esther will get it done too.
TC Daedric!
