You'll get a message after you install the DLC letting you know it's ready to be played.

IMO, get all the DLC's .... they are worth it.

You need them for the good mods anyways.

all right thx!
You don't have to start your game over, you'll get a message and a map marker pointing you to where you can start the story DLCs. The weapons one just gives you a message and the new and improved weapons will be available for purchase at Gun Runners kiosk.

its all opinion, Dead Money is hard and Lonesome Road is slightly less hard
Dead Money is a Sequel to the Old World Blues tho storywise and does a decent job tying up Elija's storyline.

so in what order should i play the dlc

Release order: Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Lonesome Road. Later you can do any order as long as LR is the last one; it closes down the DLC storyline.
I prefer Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, Dead Money Lonesome Road. Honest Hearts isn't really related to DLC. The other 3 are in order as far as the story goes.

This entirely depends on what you like in a game, DM is much more survival and horror based than exploring and questing, which some people like ( not me )

Yeah to me, dead money is the best dlc I've played for any game ever. It was well worth the money. And ice played it more than 12 different times and it still doesn't get old for me.
