Crit damage.

Looking at crit damage on a weapon in wiki, and it states that it is is 62. Does that mean crits with that weapon will do 62 damage total, or an additional 62 damage?

It would be additional damage. If you look at the stats closely, you'll see that the critical damage is usually equal to the base damage. It wouldn't make much sense to even have critical hits if it was total damage, as you'd already be getting that with a normal hit without them. That's why critical hits are so important in this game, and why getting perks that increase your chances of getting one are worth getting.

So the Q-35 Matter Modulator with like 43 damage, and 62 base damage would then be doing 105 damage without better criticals perk? Thank you.

Yes. Just keep in mind that getting a critical hit is not all that common. IIRC, the base chance is only 5%, and having the Finesse perk increases the odds to 10%. So you're not going to get that kind of damage very often.

The easy way to calculate i (LU×1% + perk modifiers + apparel modifiers + VATS modifier)×weapon_crit_chance_multiplier. With the right setup, even energy weapons can have a large enough crit chance.
And don't forgat that sneak attack crits also do double damage on top of all that. (And also that all energy weapons are loud weapons, so you can have pretty much one shot for sneak crit.)

This. I just looked it up, it's 1% for every point of Luck.

Some weapons can with the right perks and gear have a 100% crit rate

Finesse, Better Crits and sneak stuff as a wrapper so you don't trash your stats lining up a good shot. 1-shot, 1 beer...
