Crit Build (Help)
They title is a little mesleading. I really want to know what the best damage for weapons in the game is. Should I be leaning towords a full Laser, Plasma rifle kinda build or a rifle trigger happy sort of build.
Also, I heard crit is the best for damage AKA taking your opponents lives very fast, but which does it work better for, Plasma, Rifles, Laser?
Alos, how can I build this?

Well... lasers get set lasers for fun. which gives them a flat +4% to critical.

Lasers have the compliance regulator, which is a laser pistol than on critical hits paralyzes your opponent for 6 seconds. considering it shoots 3 shots per second with a good 60% chance to crit with a crit build and the stun works on anything.

it'll just lie helplessly in front of you.

Ok where was I? oh right, Set lasers for fun and laser commander would be a flat +14% chance to critical with lasers.

Light touch is also a flat +5% chance to crit.

chance to crit is divided by the number of shots per second with automatic weapons. but flat chance to crit is added afterwards.

so with a gatling laser you'd have a 19% chance to crit with every shot.

ED-E at Rank 4 of the lonesome road perk tree gets +5 beam weapon damage for it, and the player.

So a Gatling laser with focus optics does 10+3+8 18 damage a shot, +15% laser commander +30% optimized rounds or 50% max charge rounds.

well do max charge because we are calculating DPS. 931 damage per second. 19% of those are crits for double damage so 1117 damage per second?

Gun is massive drain on ammo obviously. Sprtel Wood is less wastefull 862 DPS or around there. using 33% less ammo to do so and better at overcoming DT.

second weapon i use to kill stuff fast would be the tri beam laser (GRA)

a tri beam shoots out 3 beams, each has a seporate chance to crit. so it shoots 2.7 attacks per second of 3 beams. basically 8.1 beams per second. chance to crit is x1.5.

similiar math 22+3+5 per beam +15% +50% 418.7 damage per second. crit chance with 10 luck and finesse Ulyses duster and 1st recon beret. built to destroy.

28 base chance to crit. x1.5+19 = 61% chance to crit per beam. or 673 damage per second. much better at burning thru enemy DT though as the damage per shot is up to 31 per beam over the Gatling's 18

So your basic Laser Rifle. same damage per beam as the tri beam. you put a splitter in it fires two beams each with a chance to crit for 22 extra damage. and its got a scope and very minimal spread and a rate of fire of 3.1 per second.

so with a splitter. (15.8+3+5) x1.15x1.5x3.1x2 =254 DPS. Crits I'm going to have to calc seporately as they each do full extra laser damage (22x1.15x1.5) per shot.x61%x3.1x2

so add on another 195 for criticals. 449 DPS.

These are the lasers.

For the Gatling laser all you need is the flat chance to crit stuff of light touch, Set lasers for fun challenge perk and Laser commander.

for other crit builds you'd need high luck, finesse, built to destroy, 1st recon beret and Ulyseses duster

You'd also want enough science skill. and probably vigilant recycler if you are playing on hardcore to reduce the ammo weight as well as pack rat for similiar reasons.

Jury rigging helps repair the gatling lasers as you can now use flamers and incinerators to repair them

So going Crit with Laser weapons is more effective then with for example the All American? Never been a huge fan of Laser or Plasma so if I did want to go again for an example ''All American'' crit or guns like that how would I do that? Or is it just a terrible idea all togther?

What do you think about these builds?
talgaby Jan 29, 2017 @ 11:40pm
If you want to go for the highest-damage build, then create a fully specialised unarmed character.
No, I am not joking. Unarmed is the most effective damage-dealer, with a strong enough melee build in tow. Make sure to pick Logan's Loophole and drug up as much as you can.
red255 Jan 30, 2017 @ 4:05am
Unarmed with drugs is viable but anything with drugs is viable. If I wanted to unarmed I'd still lead in with a compliance regulator. everything kites like crazy if you charge it in this game. except melee.

So you want to compare to all american. all american does 32.5 damage per shot with grunt. double on critical hits. 6 shots per second. (i'm realizing now I forgot the better criticals perk bonus damage Oh well, makes the math more difficult so I forgot it)

ammo wise you have Match, JHP and Armor piercing. the JHP does the most damage but not craftable so you have to find it and it doesn't do very much damage to armored targets.

Basic critical chance modifier. Not really a critical gun. you'd generally want to compare to something like gopi campaign rifle. the .308 is a better ammo type. easier to find large quantities of AP ammo for it. and the JSP ammo is craftable. 1.3 damage mod there.

Even without drugs, Spiked Knuckles can swiftly take-out a lot of enemies, even with a lower unarmed skill than the weapon suggests.

That's not even factoring in the game-breaking Ranger Takedown.

The thing about weapons like the Anti-Material Rifle or a Unique Weapon with optimized ammo is that they're powerful to the point of redundancy. You don't get better bang for your buck than with Unarmed.

Crit build is one of my favorite. During my survival playthrough in the ardest difficulty i was going crit + unarmed, no need to say the Compliance Regulator helped me a lot (Best weapon in the game in my opinion !).
And there an unique Vats attack with high unarmed weapons skill when your target is paralyzed or knocked down, you can stomp on them for extra damages, having a Power Fist and doing a crit while stomping is pretty much instakill on most NPC/Creatures. :sans:
