DH Train Engineers v3 - Trains on Planets! (+ Build Your Own!)

Description
PLEASE NOTE: This map was made in 2015 so it may not work anymore, and my PC is too weak to run modern Space Engineers. so I can't fix it! But you can look at the videos and find out what once was possible. Or maybe it is still possible? Why not play with the mechanics yourself, and find out? :)

---

A train set map on a small planet. No mods. Also, build your own railway and trains using the blueprint collection: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=563424253

* Fun "toy", designed to work in creative mode with destructible blocks turned off
* Currently contains 6 traditonal style locomotives: 3 "steam" trains, 3 "diesel" ones. More can be found in the vehicle collection!
* Locos can haul wagons again (Fixed in v3!)
* Old content from version 2 has been rehashed and works a lot better now. :)
* It's on a planet. You need DX11.
* Map contains a 5km long monorail track and some WIP stations which I've stopped working on for now - I would have added more to it but the framerate started to drop too much.

Fixed by Dan2D3D when patch 01.125 broke it. Thanks a bunch!

CONSTRUCTION KIT + VEHICLES
You can also subscribe to the blueprints in the construction kit collection below and use them to build your own track in your own worlds - Use the tutorial video as a guide on how to do this. You can use my existing vehicles on your track, or you can build your own with the blank chassis included in the construction kit.

Again, you're encouraged to build your own track in your own worlds - Feel free to add to my world instead if you really want to, but please do not reupload it unless you clearly credit me, link back to the original, and speak to me about it first. Thanks! :)

Blueprints are tagged to make them easier to find.

DH Train Engineers Completed Vehicles List: - Contains blueprints of the vehicles featured in the map, plus a few more. Also slowly being added to. I may accept suggestions and even other people's blueprints if they work with my track and are tagged properly. :)

INSTRUCTIONS:

* Orange button panels toggle track points/switches and other mechanics in the world.

* While driving, press { W } and { S } to go forward or back. Use handbrake with { SPACE } to brake. Press { 4 } to toggle handbrake lock. Adjust max. wheel speed with { 1 } and { 2 }.

* You'll have to reverse trains out of the sidings 'cause I messed up with track design - I might change that later. Don't forget to change the points at the depot/sidings intersection. (see map above)

* Check the Vehicles blueprint collection (linked above) for more information on each vehicle. The Intercity has special reversal instructions.

* It's not reccomended to go faster than 200 km/h or the speed limits shown on signs throughout the map, particuarly during in-game night. That's optional of course, but derailing is a pain. :)

* Trees growing and clipping through the track may also derail you if you hit them at high speeds, so be careful.

* Trains may stick sometimes and not move even with the handbrake off - Be persistant, set wheel speed to maximum, and they'll move eventually.

* Vehicles use landing gear as "couplings" to connect locomotives to wagons, and wagons to each other.

To connect:
1) Press the light blue button next to a "coupling" to toggle the autolock on.
2) Drive vehicles into each other slowly. Only one landing gear needs to be locked.

To disconnect:
1) Toggle Autolock off with the light blue button
2) Press the green button to unlock landing gear.

Locos also have these "coupling" groups bound to their cockpit toolbars.

NOTES:
Again, this map made for fun in creative mode. Maybe a simplified version of this rail system could be used for survival mode, but tracks would need a lot of resources to build. I think that trains need to be an in-game mechanic for them to be a useful thing. :)

If playing with block damage on, components in Space Engineers are fragile - Vehicles break, derail and warp the track at high speeds. There's also the problem with trees growing randomly through the track. Derailed trains are difficult to re-rail (try using the drone at the depot as a sky crane - Or simply quit without saving and reload the map).

This maglev rails mod looks like a useful thing if you want to play with trains properly, maybe I'll make a 4th train map which uses these. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635163592

Map Version 1 was released in May 2014 and can be found here (it loads, but the vehicles don't work):

This does mostly work as of 1.187.209, you just have to go into the wheel settings for each train/carriage and increase the Guide Wheel suspecnsion strength to 50-100% to get them to stick to the track better.

This map dates from 2015 and the game devs may have changed wheel mechanics since then - I don't have a powerful enough PC to run the game and fix it, but you can still see the videos to see what once was possible. :)

Or maybe it is still possible? Why not play with the mechanics I've shown, and find out? :D

i only just found it and it looks good but for what ever reason i cant create slopes and curved track

@Tom - See the tutorial video I made, with the section which starts at 3 minutes, 17 seconds. https://youtu.be/4BZHMK3lGP0?t=3m17s

I'm suprised this map still appears to work considering I've not touched this game in a nearly a year. :P (Old PC can't handle it no more)

does anyone know how to build curved track?
