I can clearly see why so many fans of the The Elder Scrolls series regard this to be Bethesda's best RPG and the best TES game. For a game that was made in 2002, it has so much content in it. A lot more than Oblivion and Skyrim in my honest opinion. There are tons of quests, things to do, and you have so much freedom in this game that can't honestly be comparable to others nowadays (Elden Ring, Skyrim, and Oblivion as an exception).

If you're like me and didn't try this game/pick it up because of the dated graphics or wonky combat, trust me, the game is an absolute masterpiece. The game works right out of the "box." I only suggest getting texture mods and complete lighting overhauls such as MGE to help make this game look modern. If its your first time playing and you want to run mods for this game. I recommend using "Wrye Mash" as your mod manager and to manually install your mods.

- Like stated before, this game has excellent exploration and freedom
- So much content
- Fantastic RPG elements and class system
- No hand-holding
- Exploration is rewarding
- You actually feel like you belong in the game's world, and are revered as a hero by your choices
- There are more weapons and armor in this game than in the other TES games
- A lot more weapon types than Skyrim and Oblivion; spears are a new weapon type
- Large map
- Exceptional DLC
- LEVITATION (YOU CAN FLY)
- The BEST LORE in ANY TES game & an excellent main story
- Spell-making, enchanting, and alchemy is a lot more intuitive in this game than the other TES games

- Graphics are very dated, and the view distance is extremely low (Can be fixed by mods)
- Combat is Meh. Relies on a "dice" roll system akin to the older TES games (Arena, Daggerfall)
- Cliff Racers...
- Animations are dated (Can be fixed somewhat by mods)
- General bugs (Clipping through floors is a very common occurance)
- No map markers (can be considered a pro TBH for some - I like it)
- Archery is mediocre, but you get to use crossbows, throwing stars, and throwing knives (besides bows)

Overall, if you love RPGs and LOVE the TES series as much as I do and haven't played this one, then I HIGHLY recommend picking this game up. For $15, this game is well worth the price for how much content you get. If it's your first time playing (like me), then I highly recommend looking at a guide to make the game look pretty and play well with mods.

What happened to you Bethesda? Remake/remaster Oblivion or Morrowind, not re-release Skyrim five times
