For the few hours I have so far, this game is really fun and exciting. It's a good combination of creativity, economics, combat, adventure and progression. It's hard to point the finger exactly at what makes this game great for me but one thing that comes to mind is that the universe feels so alive. It's a simple thing, but the text transmissions from other beings in the universe just appeals to me. I also like how they've opted for a more casual speech pattern than some holier than thou type of speech, it feels more relatable and realistic. All in all, really cool game and I'm looking forward to building my mining empire!

The first PDX game that I've enjoyed and felt compelled to continue playing. I really enjoy the RTS like style of the combat and the way the game actually makes me feel like a leader of an empire. Decision must be made and a strong leader is needed. It does feel kind of RPG-y as it lends itself to make pretty cool stories all the while being a 4x game. It's surprisingly fun to explore new systems and finally meeting new aliens to make contact with. It's rather suspensful not knowing how the first contact will play out.All in all, this has finally scratched the strategy itch that I've felt for so long now.

DFHack is a must have for me. The implementation for the Steam version is very nicely done and easy to navigate. Thanks for making this awesome piece of work!

Really good military simulator. Has it's Arma jankiness where you'll get sent into orbit for looking at an object wrong. Really fun, especially with a friend or two. Thousands of mods makes replayability basically endless.

I have limited time to play so having to re-learn the old UI and controls never really worked out for me. Only 5 hours in, almost made it through my first year and having a blast with it! My expedition leader had a fight with a wolverin and when I looked at the combat log and his feelings about the fight afterwards, that's when I knew I loved this game. The depth is beyond anything I've played before. One of the damn cats dropped a dead rat on my managers seat, I later found out the cat had adopted the manager. I can go on and on, even though its only been 5 hours. Thanks to Adams brothers and Kitfox for making this playable for someone like me.

For the little time I had to play this, I had fun.
I refunded because I bought the game thinking I could run it below minimum specs.
To my defense it's the first time I haven't been able to get a game to properly run even though I am below min. specs.
My problem is VRAM, the fps are through the roof and steady so no problem there. However, when texture become missing and text in the menus disappear after a while, it takes away from the gameplay. But, it is nothing wrong with the game, the min. specs are well spelt out. I will get the game again as soon as I've updated my rig.

Granted I don't have many hours. But this game is such a brave game, it does it well and the depth is amazing.

Had the game well before it came to Steam and have played it for many hours.
Being a somewhat casual gamer and a lover of strategy, survival and management games, this title truly represents the top tier of those genres. I cannot recommend this game enough, it's one of the very few games that I actually have a hard time closing down for the night. The game has great depth and you'll come across new things in any new playthrough of the game. Once you think you've got it all set, your population is healthy, you got a good defence, lots of food, that is when you're about to get tested and realize all your flaws. It really does have unlimited playability. Get this one, NOW!

One of the best, quite simply. Survival and the tense feeling of near death lingering in the night, it's just unbeatable.
This game has almost everything I can think of. The developers are pumping out huge updates at a high rate, they listen to the community and show a lot of love for the game. The newly updated graphics are a huge plus.

In essence, if you enjoy survival, hunting, farming and fearing for your life, then this game is for you.

This game is simply amazing. I haven't had this much fun in a strategy game since I played Warcraft 2, Dune 2 and Age of Empires 2. This game is a must-have if you're into RTS. The graphics are as expected and are clean and nice. Sound is pretty cool when you get the rifled soldiers, music is very nice. The custom games are customizable and you can do skirmishes for hours, which is what I personally enjoy. The AI is nicely refined and it does exactly as it says when you set the difficulty. One aspect I really enjoy in this game is that it matters to occupy cities. I recommend getting the 'No Armageddon + No population limit' mod as soon as you've downloaded the game. All in all, this is one you can sink many hours into and enjoy on both a large scale and small scale.
