Street Fighter 6 is a blast, honestly. It's like Capcom decided to throw in everything but the kitchen sink, and it all just... works. You've got these new mechanics, Drive Impact and Drive Rush, which are game-changers. Drive Impact feels like it adds a whole new layer of strategy to your fights, letting you absorb an attack and hit back hard. Then there's Drive Rush, which is perfect for keeping the pressure on your opponent by quickly closing the distance after a successful parry. It's these kinds of systems that keep matches feeling fresh and exciting.

But here's the kicker: I'm not exactly what you'd call a fighting game aficionado. I've always found them a bit intimidating with all the complex combos and precise timing. Yet, Street Fighter 6 feels different. It's like it's built with beginners in mind without sacrificing depth. The game is packed with guides and tutorials that are genuinely helpful. They do a great job of breaking down the basics, making the game accessible without feeling like it's holding your hand too much.

What I really appreciate is the balance Street Fighter 6 strikes. It's deep and complex enough for the veterans who want to get into the nitty-gritty of frame data and optimal combos, but it's also welcoming to newcomers who might be daunted by the genre. It's a tough balance to achieve, but Street Fighter 6 nails it. Plus, the roster is diverse and the visuals are just top-notch. All in all, it's a solid entry in the series and one that's been eating up a lot of my free time.

Sable is a fantastic open world puzzle game.

Travelling through a vast desert expanse in your hover-bike is super fun. The soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast is beautiful - it has a real meditative quality to it. I love the art style; it’s unique and unlike anything I’ve seen before in a video game.

Exploring this mesmerising landscape and completing puzzles is cool - but I also enjoy the moments just spent relaxing to some Japanese Breakfast melodies while riding a hover-bike across a pastel desert.

I finished this game a while ago on Xbox One. Replaying it now on PC and it’s as wonderful as I remember. This isn’t just a game, it’s an experience - and one that’ll stay with you long after you’re done.

Genuinely mind-boggling that this masterpiece was made by two blokes in a garden shed in north London. 10/10, highly recommend!

Plague Tale: Innocence is an awesome narrative-driven adventure.

It tells the story of siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune. Descended from a noble lineage, Hugo has been born with a supernatural, dark power in his blood called the Macula.

This allows him to control the army of rats terrorising the French countryside, which operates as a kind of Black Death-esque flash mob. They're ravenous, they appear out of nowhere and literally kill people. Yikes.

Plague Tale operates as a fairly straightforward puzzle solving/action-stealth game. Over a series of levels (here dubbed ‘Chapters’), Amicia and her companion Hugo spend much of their time sneaking through an area patrolled by guards, or rats, or a combination of the two.

Overall, a great game that I highly recommend. Can't wait to play the sequel.

'The Beginner's Guide' is an excellent narrative-driven game. It takes 90 minutes to beat but the experience will stay with you long after the credits roll. It tells the story of a person struggling to deal with depression and loneliness. Interesting exploration of the human desire for external validation, and how this can often be problematic. Highly recommend.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a masterpiece that sets a new bar for Triple-A gaming. It is, hands-down, one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have experienced, with masterful storytelling, expertly-crafted level design and top-notch gun-play.

At times the scale of the action and set-pieces made it feel like some sort of interactive, big-budget Hollywood blockbuster.

Night City will go down as one of the great video game settings. This dystopian megalopolis bursts with life, offering the player endless activities and excitement.

I personally didn't experience many bugs, other than the odd floating gun or cigarette. I did, however, play it on a super high-spec PC (3080, intel i9), which probably had something to do with the lack of glitches.

10/10

Interactive dramas of this sort can often come across a little cheesy, but you won't smell a single whiff of the yellow stuff here.

Quantic Dream have done a stellar job and the writing is excellent from start to finish. Detroit: Become Human is a cool narrative-driven game that throws lots of tricky moral conundrums at you. Highly recommend.

Control is a sharply written third-person action game with a fascinating plot.

Sure, the story did go over my head at times, but that just made me even more determined to find and read the in-game collectables to help bolster my understanding of the lore.

The combat is fast-paced and fun though some of the boss battles can be frustratingly difficult. Telekinesis is a blast to use and levitation - unlocked in the latter half of the game - is super cool too.

If you like narrative-driven games, sharply written dialogue and good third-person combat then you will likely enjoy playing Control.

Excellent storytelling. 10/10

There are two kinds of players who I think will get a particular thrill from this bizarre, ambitious experience:
1. Players who enjoy the organic, deliberate, and meditative qualities of open-world games.
2. Players who love to optimize, min-maxing their way to victory regardless of the task at hand.
