A different pace from Vermintide 2

I definitely like the pace and design of Darktide a lot more than I did with Vermintide. This might be because I was more inclined to like WH40K than just standard WH. I like the gritty feel, and the gameplay is satisfying, which is weird because I dislike the repetition of Left for Dead and Destiny, but that's almost what it feels like, but so much better.

Yes, there are bugs.
Yes, there will be missing features.
Am I new to the WH40K franchise? Yes.
Am I enjoying this awesome title? Yes.
I think before you read a lot of the negative reviews, you might want to watch gameplay or seek out someone you know who has it. I definitely see a lot of fun in this game.

I've recently gotten back into Hearts of Iron IV in a casual fashion. Most of the games I play, I either play Kaiserreich/Kaiserredux modded or I play TNO or just good old fashion vanilla. I play what I feel like and I take the time to learn. I mostly play now with a friend or a group of friends, which really makes the game a lot more fun to play.

I still hold some negative aspects as self-evident, and something that I feel (without DLC) will effect play. They are as follows:

-The AI
The AI in this game is just terrible unless you have a mod which modifies its behavior. Allied/Puppet behavior is to just make a Warhammer-esque/LOTR-esque ORK wall of bodies until their manpower drains or until equipment gets so abysmally low that they fail to defend ports from invasion and just capitulate.

-The necessity of DLC mechanics to be fun
Base game, no DLC is absolutely scathing and to try and play this game without DLC is comparable to playing Civilization V without DLC. But even you can manage without playing with DLC in Civilization V. Some of the mechanics, like the logistical overhaul is absolutely mind-boggling. Yet it's not unfounded but the way it's presented and the way you need to maintain it can be amounted to strategical babysitting.

Overall,

I love Hearts of Iron IV. I love the games I've played and the memories I've had with friends, both good and bad. I've left my original 2022 review so you can read it as well.

OCT 2022 REVIEW
================
I honestly used to love HOI IV SP, and I used to really enjoy the grind of getting your dream world put together. But recent updates and DLCs ruined HOI IV for me. It's too much gamey grind and micromanagement that I'd rather just go play something else instead of pour thousands more hours to try and have fun.

It's not fun to have an entire game ruined by the AI making a mega-powerful alliance and having to scrap the game entirely.

I'd only recommend playing with friends, HOI IV just isn't as fun as I remember it.

Honestly I'd leave a good review for Dead By Daylight on the account that the gameplay is extremely satisfying and addictive. What I can't recommend to people is the toxic playerbase. Cheap, gamey metas, toxic players, and a good 'ol teabag-fest. For a split second I felt like I was in a MW2 lobby. If I encounter some good sports that are there to have fun and not grind blood points, and to just do the same repetitive meta over and over again, I'll gladly change my review.

Don't misunderstand this review, I love Dead By Daylight, I even bought the Halloween pack, but for others to get into this game who normally don't play (or play well) with toxic players, I just can't see anyone but myself playing this. I only might consider playing this with friends instead of public lobbies.

Sea of Thieves, where to start.

It's the game from memes, and it's a pirate's best dream, but what it is truly is a good way to sail and have fun... most of the time.

The only gripes with Sea of Thieves that I have is the insane odds stacked against newer players such as skeletal ships, megs, and krakens, especially when you just go to make an awesome payday at Golden Outpost but then are cut down because Davy Jones decided to say "♥♥♥♥ you" and have two skeletal ships broadside you or a kraken powerfist you, all you can do after getting back from the ferryman is look at your floating loot on the sea and be straight up depressed. I am also thoroughly convinced the ocean is salty because it's made of the tears of losing your loot.

Sea of Thieves is definitely a game meant to be played with friends, and it shows in the gameplay and the maintenance of a ship and the crew structure.

Have at ye' fellow pirates and enjoy the seven seas, my total rating is a 7.5/10

I thought I would update this for clarity.
I still hold everything in my initial review to be self evident, however one thing I didn't really consider is that Sea of Thieves is not meant to be easy, it's plunder and pillage, risk it all for a damned castaway on an island you know full well you don't need, but you take it anyways and then sail into a dual skele-galleon alliance having your own galleon broadsided as all you can do with your crew is have one bucket and the rest shoot in volley. God I love Sea of Thieves, I have put ~$40 into the game for the Black Pearl Shipset and some misc purchases and don't regret a cent. Playing with strategy and good comms is key, and the emissaries are fun as hell! (I might be slightly partial to Reaper's Bones and Gold Hoarder =]) But what a fantastic game that you should pick up! Yo ho! Yo ho! A pirate's life for me!

I RECEIVED THIS GAME ON A PROMOTIONAL FREE WEEK & AS OF NOW BOUGHT THE GAME ON SALE

With that out of the way, Imperator: Rome is an ancient warfare strategy game from Paradox Interactive. I remember eyeing this game when it came out and watching it faceplant with complaints of grinding and mana issues (though I disagreed with the mana issues to an extent). Imperator: Rome has made a full recovery in game-play and game content. It's storyline heavy and gets you attached to said character. In a way, Imperator: Rome feels like a cross between the surface of Total War games (without the battle mechanic) and other Paradox titles. It seems like Paradox really went all in and borrowed a lot of mechanics from their other games: like Manpower, Stability, etc.

If you enjoy
-Strategy
-Micro maintenance
-Politics
-Story

YOU WILL ENJOY IMPERATOR: ROME

A really poor excuse of a shoehorn to add a few focus trees, and a waste of time while in gameplay. I got more use out of Man the Guns. The spanish civil war is a meme, as much as I'd like to just 'git gud', I've literally tried every approach to any side besides the historical republican/nationalist (which leaves the carlists and the anarchists). They're unplayable. The french focus is okay, but i witnessed a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ experience when my friend got cucked out of a focus as france when aiding the carlists. Mod support isn't there, and the mods that fix the spy system are good. But honestly get this DLC on sale, not at full price. It's not worth it.

It's difficult to learn at first, but with time you can create beautiful artwork and animation sequences.

I love the idea of Terraria. However, pointless mechanics and dropped features make this game a pain in the ass for me to keep my cool. I played regularly with my girlfriend, and her and I were having major trouble with the mechanic that:
I would die more than her, but she apparently would drop her stuff when she died. She suffocated in a room with an opening. I died from glitchy enemies. It became severely unenjoyable. Sorry to have to put Terraria on my not reccomended list.
