It's hard for me to describe exactly what I enjoy about this besides what other reviewers have mentioned. The gameplay loop is fun, the aesthetic is solid, and the similarities to games like BOTW, ARK, Satisfactory, Terraria, and of course Pokémon are there.

But besides that, this game feels very alive in a lot of ways.

A while ago I tried a (now delisted) VR tower defense game where you could fight alongside your towers. I absolutely loved it, it felt like I had teammates around me while i was fighting. This hits a very similar itch while incorporating some of the best elements of crafting and base building games. I'm having a lot of fun with it.

If you're a fan of the SCP community you'll like this. Great potential for growth as well so credit there.

At least the first story was a lot of fun with a decent ending and halfway decent choices throughout the campaign. I'm writing this after completing it, and I can honestly say it's right up there with Dying Light and Dead Island as far as enjoyment goes. I love how the environment changes and every little thing you do effects the world around you. I love the moral dilemmas (though you can't actually act on them) and how they're presented to you, I love the variation in the Archetypes that are present, and I really like the way weapons and the regular gameplay is handled as well. Sure, you're overpowered by the end of the game on normal, and it has a few moments where it will yank control from the player in order to do some cutscene magic, but as a $30 experience it's well worth it. This has the makings of a $40-60 game and it's some pretty fantastic value.

I strongly recommend playing through it if you're a fan of choice in engagements or enjoyed Dying Light. I also strongly recommend if you played Black Ops 1 multiplayer, if for no other reason than that the gadgets in this game remind me so much of it (enemies might as well scream ENEMY RCXD every time you deploy that little thing).

But seriously, it's a game where you play as a terrorist but have none of the guilt, it's great.

Truly amazing. The combination of Platinum Games' action with Yoko Taro's story evokes a thrilling experience accessible to everyone. Now that it's been out for almost two years, I recommend grabbing it on sale and playing it. While you're at it, check out that fanfictions and see what you enjoy, just make sure you play through ending E!!!

Enjoyable, almost mesmerizing.

It tells a good story and the gameplay is fun. A nice blend between strategy and action.

The story hits most of the right buttons and the world is nice, I can see the universe the developers tried to make. While the story is... complete, it leaves me wanting more.

I just wish there was more to it, there's a reason I hesitate in calling it complete because it feels like there's so much more to do in Cloudbank, so much more to explore. The game ends on a meloncholy note that I wish lead into a sequel, but doesn't.

It's a good game, I wish it wasn't over.

This is a Pre-Alpha but it doesn't FEEL like a Pre-Alpha. If you enjoy Minecraft or Space Engineers this game will be a hit for you. I've encountered none of the bugs others have mentioned.

Out of all the games I never expected to like. This one takes the cake.

Somehow, and I have no idea how (3 years in development I think?) Massive managed to create a game that caters to many varieties of gamers.

There are shooter elements, RPG elements, PvP and PvE (with seemless integration of the two) areas and tons of customization. I purchased the game for the shooter in New York, I stayed for the players and the RPG.

So going in order:

Shooter: Great combat system but unrealistic (it had to be). Colossal variations in weapons, gear and abilities. The need to multitask during combat is forgiving in PvE but unrelenting in PvP. In addition to your normal weapons, (Snipers, ARs, SMGs, LMGs, Shotguns and Pistols) you get three unique abilities that you can mod to suit your playstyle.

Because of everything going on, combat can occasionally feel unrealistic compared to the background the fight is set on. But it makes sense when you take into account how far in the future the game potentially takes place.

RPG: Loot system is phenomenal and blends very well with the FPS. Think Borderlands mixed with DC Universe mixed with Fallout 4. I loved Borderlands' system when it came to loot and this one breaks it down even simpler. That being said, for hardcore RPG fans there are no set specializations (save 3 abilities) that absoloutley define your character. Running a jack of all trades is normally the best strategy for Singleplayer and Specializing is better for Multiplayer.

The World: As a New Yorker, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The world is spot on and gives a great atmosphere. I honestly feel like I'm walking the streets of the city when I'm playing.

The game honestly caters to most tastes and gets the best of both worlds (RPG and FPS) if you like either, I strongly suggest picking it up.

So should you try The Division?

YES
