Functionality
Rust is a little slow sometimes, loading in for the first time on a server will take a while.
Changing graphical settings in game can be slow and crash some. So you should handle those at the main menu. But for the most part, it is very fluid and has solid performance. If you have a high end machine, you'll be fine. It looks absolutely beautiful on max settings, but never play that way.

Gameplay
The big question. Rust is first and foremost a crafting survival game. Servers change how some things work, but generally it is similar enough to not be a bother. The FPS aspect of it does NOT hold your hand. You will have to learn and play it by ear, other players WILL be better than you.

Crafting
Crafting is a bit unusual compared to other titles. Mostly you have initial access to certain grade tools, clothing, and items. But as you progress further you get utilities, blueprints and a progression tree. But what is interesting is that if you find an item you can't craft, you can research it to unlock it.

Resources
Resources can be tricky, maps are randomly generated so there are no "known" dedicated spots for farming.
But certain environments have their perks; more metal, more stone, harvestables, ect.
Basic things like stone and wood can be found almost anywhere, it will take you a little time to former.

Multiplayer/Community
Toxic. Simple and toxic, but surprisingly friendly in some encounters.
This game is HIGHLY PVP focused and very competitive. Trash talk, profanity, and the largest salt mine on Earth. (The game contains nudity, what do you expect.) But every now and then you find another player that is in complete contrast to that, which makes such encounters very fun and fresh.

Summary
If you're not good at FPSs, not great with team coordination, or have some thin skin. Don't buy Rust, it's not a fit for you. But if you're a masochist and enjoy the Grind, Die, Repeat w/friends aspects, Stop door camping you little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and go suck someone else off!

The best time killer, autism simulator, and mental challenge you'll ever have.
You'll start, make progress, quit, rinse and repeat.
Every time you start again, you'll do it better, faster, and more efficiently, constantly making progress not only in game but with your skill playing it; the scale of progression is massive.
Eventually you'll get bored and want a challenge, which the game provides with settings and tweaks you don't often see.

Seriously.
You'll either hate it or love it.

Ban for typing "♥♥♥♥♥♥" in the chat.

No ban for being named "Hollacausto" with "Hitler did nothing wrong" as your profile picture.

Hitboxes are ♥♥♥♥♥, wallers everywhere, Gold IVs are ♥♥♥♥, and Ash has no hitbox.

Early Access Review
Pros:
=Fun with friends, if you stick together
=Very competetive
=Arcade like shooter (No ballistics/fire suppression mechanics. Point and shoot)
=Looks very nice on medium graphics

CONS:

=Poorly optimized
=Very bad netcode
=Game mechanics are un-balanced
=Buggy (Most bugs I've encountered have caused in-game death, breaking the game)
=Poor audio
=Awful hitbox detection

This game is fun for some, and amazing for others. But it is not as advertised.
As an early access game, it's NOT worth $10, let alone $30. If you REALLY want to give it a go, buy it, try it, refund it if you want.

If you're someone like me who likes the idea, enjoys the idea, and wants it to grow. Don't buy unless you are sure.
Yes, not purchasing doesn't help the devs, but refunding it hurts them even more because that shows.
Wait, pray, and see if it gets better. (It's only been publicly available for 3-4 days since this review. Give it a month or two and check back.)

10/10

It's an amazing game, So much fun for FREE! It's interesting mechanics,
and slightly complex yet simple interface makes the game a one of a kind.
The amazing fight scenes and hilarious fails, makes the game worth playing
for hours on end. Not even 4 hours on record yet, and I already love it.
The 'Replays' can be saved, so you can review, and show off your fights.
The graphical makup and rendering is smoothe, and fluid. I love it.

An amazing game/simulator involving a challenging motive. Constructing a modular craft with the hope that it functions to your predictions. The constant trial and error to gain experience with the game is a solid learning curve. Along with the friendly and helping community, the modding capability with this game/simulator is beyond my expectations. It's a great time killer, and fun to kill off boredom with for a few hours, perhaps a road trip in the passenger seat with a laptop? I enjoy this game/simulator thoroughly. 9/10 "Science for the Kerbal Gods!"
