First of all, I got the game while it was free, so, from my perspective, this game is essentially a free-to-play title with in-game transactions which is a busainess practice many gamers are familiar with. The game is a lot of fun. I see a lot of negative reviews bringing up lootboxes and the imbalance of champions, and yes, it is annoying that you don't have all champions unlocked from the start but you get a second one through the tutorial and (controversial opinion, maybe?) ANY champion can absolutely be viable in this game. The two starting champions are absolutely capable of holding their own against others. Additionally, the game features a rotation of free champions so you can try them out before you decide if you want to purchase any. Also, the lootboxes only grant cosmetic items, none of the rewards alter character stats in any way. Each champion varies enough in appearance that you can learn to recognize them in a fight so you know what you're up against. This does take some getting used to, but I don't think that's a bad thing. It's just another layer fo thinking you have to do in a firefight.

Overall, the new champion system takes some getting used to but it is learnable and I think the abilities and the varied stats of champions adds a fun extra layer to the gameplay besides just jumping and shooting. I totally recommend grabbing the game while it's free and giving it a shot. If you're reading this after the game was free then I still recommend grabbing it if you're a fan of arena shooters. The gameplay is really solid and from what I've heard, the devs have been working really hard and have done an excellent job improving the game patch-by-patch. It takes time to create a truly great arena shooter and this game is still early access, so the devs still have plenty in store for this game and I'm very excited to see what they do with it.

This game is absolutely beautiful, WITH THE RESTORED CONTENT MOD. Without the restored content, this game can feel unfinished (because it was), but with the mod, this is absolutely the best Star Wars story ever written into a video game. I recommend this game to any Star Wars fan; just make sure you get the restored content from the workshop!
