Mechanically the best FPS competitive game in the world, none can beat it in that aspect, though many have tried and failed. Unlike those 'other' games, CS has had time to perfect its unique formula for well over a decade since its inception.

Of course, that's not even talking about how it feels to watch it in the ESports scene. Even someone who has had 0 prior experience or knowledge of the game can understand how to watch it. It looks so simple from an outsider's perspective, and in some respects it is, until you start to dig deeper on why players might do specific things.

One thing you don't really get is a big casual scene. While the "custom servers" of Counter-Strike ARE rather populated, it certainly isn't as big as its competitive side, though it is just as important to its identity. But if you're ONLY looking for a casual game in CS, you could probably find better. Unless you REALLY like the idea of b-hopping, surfing, and other select custom server game modes.

The game is, at the time of writing, 8 years old. It still gets big content updates.

Huge respect.

Dead game now, stupid ape devs decided to go on a malicious power trip and completely remove all mods from the game. Imagine removing one of the most integral parts to your game for absolutely 0 reason. You're better off playing something else besides this steaming pile of BS.

A very unique game with a very unique form of play. On the outside, it may just seem like a walking simulator. But the game has far, far more depth to that. It is also a game that is entirely based around community and helping each other. You are never truly "alone" in this game, other players will be there in spirit every step of the way with you. Also very relaxing game to put a podcast or some other form of media on while you play the game.

This game is very good, especially the Enemy WIthin add-on, which adds a load of new things to XCOM: EW. I'm just going to say, singleplayer is phenomenal, a decent story with a cliche yet cool ending, very fun gameplay, nice character customization (Made my entire squad characters from the Devil May Cry series and had fun doing it, even giving them certain traits I feel their actual characters had), a very cool menu for your in-between battles, and a whole host of other really cool things.

I don't want to put anyone off, but for me, it's best you guys ignore multiplayer exists. It is horribly broken flawed, hell, even the leaderboards are piss-poor. Not even the regular leaderboard hackers you see at the top are messing with it. Even funnier, someone with the name "XCOM LEADERBOARDS ARE BROKEN" is at the very top of it. God knows how long it has been there.

Story time

First game for me: We start off at a semi great start, one of my guys dies after inflicting damage on what I assume was their main man, a decked out human, and killing a Thin Man. And the worst part is he was in my support's smoke. I chalked it off as bad luck (probably was), so then they have my support completely trapped and it was my turn. Luckily I had the Grappling Hook armor and I grappled on top of the building that he was inside along with my dead soldier, to join my sniper. The sniper moves so he can get in a better position. Next, a pretty buggy thing happened. His team apparently couldn't see my sniper, not after I killed 2 of his sectoids. After this, his remaining soldiers (the damaged human and what I assumed was his support) decide to go up the latter. My sniper couldnt use overwatch because he already shot, so I put my support in overwatch, who was not that far away from the ladder. The first soldier goes up the ladder (with 2 health) and for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason my support didnt shoot him. So as you can guess, his soldier completely destroys my sniper. At this point, I am completely screwed, because his other soldier then climbed up with him, who wasnt injured at all, and threw down smoke (didnt make a difference in the long run). After their turn was up, I shot and killed his main because I didnt stand a chance anyways with my injured support. Next his soldier shot me point blank, didnt die, shot back, got a critical for 7 damage and ALMOST killed his soldier, but then I shot and got ded. Riperoni my vailiant soldier, heroes never die, they only respawn.

In short, RIP multiplayer, Yay for singleplayer
