This game is a cross between simple and addicting retro-style FPS gameplay and modern heavy metal music. What's not to love?

Makes even less sense physics-wise (how does the chainsaw regenerate gasoline?) but is WAY BETTER gameplay-wise. Everything is turned up, intuitive features are added, and it still runs cleanly and buttery. Just get it!

The deepest and most detailed choice-based game I've ever played. Seriously!
There are definitely some choices that they spoon feed to you and give you plenty of opportunities to undo if you pick the one they don't want you to pick, but it's ALWAYS possible to keep things completely screwed up!
In most other games if you fail the QTE, escape sequence, or puzzle you have to restart from a checkpoint and try again, but in here you can just keep playing with your failure.
One character has a violent escape sequence very early, and on my second playthrough experimented with failing it on purpose. To my surprise, the character stayed dead throughout the game and all the subsequent plot with the character simply didn't happen.

My only big complaint is the crashes. They can happen frequently if you don't pick the right graphics settings. However, there are multiple guides and YouTube videos on how to fix them. Keep trying until you find what works for you and if nothing works just keep changing settings until it works.

It jumped off the generic tree and hit every branch coming down, only this time done on a low budget. Everything this game does has been done better years ago by a AAA company. Yes, they are a small studio and don't have the resources or ambition of larger companies, but that doesn't change that this game is forgettable and bland.

It's good, but it's a significant step down from Modern Warfare.
The campaign is passable, although there are annoying sections. Modern Warfare had really interesting sections where you had to make moral calls and you saw the dark side of war. This game is more cut-and-dry. There were missions in Modern Warfare that were unique and memorable, while this just feels ehhh

I don't play multiplayer, so I can't say anything about that. I'd wait for a sale

First, the good. It is quite enjoyable to sneak around alleys, sell drugs, gain new clients, balance finances, reputation vs police profile, and so on. I loved doing that.

However, I can't recommend this game. I really hated having to divide my drugs into smaller bags. If I had a 5g bag and a client wanted 3g, I couldn't just give him 3g and walk away with 2. I had to go back to my apartment, use the drug stash, empty my pockets into the jar, empty the jar into a bag of 2 and a bag of 3, and go back. It was really tedious and is easily the worst thing about this.

The controls for the drug stash are awful as well. You can't just get in and get out, you have to navigate different menus, juggle modes, and click and drag things to make the game do what you want. This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to do it several times each day. Every time it happened I groaned.

In short, they have a lot of good things in this game, but to get through the game you have to put up with boring, frustrating crap. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't

Absolutely fantastic game!
Tactical realism, great community, constant updates, variety of guns, maps, modes, and strategies keep the game fresh! A must-buy for tactical shooter fans!

Decent tactical realism, but SERIOUS issues
There are 3 types of servers, ones with long queues, empty, or high ping. There's no matchmaking, so you have to pick.
Most of your game time will be spent walking to the battle, then getting immediately domed from across the map by someone you never saw, while your squad mates complain about everything on VC.
I wouldn't mind being a support worker, but on some servers these are straight up not allowed, probably because they take up space on the server. Besides, I doubt they have much work to do, because everyone just walks and dies immediately.

Good for fans of hyper-realism, but the gameplay loop is just too hard, tedious and frustrating to be engaging.

No singleplayer, so take that into consideration. But the PVE mode is great tactical fun. Make impactful choices about what gear to bring and try not to die

The previous two Metro games have been tightly focused, mission-based games, with a mix of both subtle and overt choices that build to an ending. Exodus is a lot less focused.

It's open world, which sounds good at first, but the punishing survival mechanics (scarce ammo, fragile equipment, etc.) means that exploring is very risky. If you take one wrong step or make one mistake, you lose what little you had and now face a high difficulty on the story. So it gives you a lot to do but doesn't want you to do any of it.

There is a lot of dialog in between gameplay moments, and a lot of tedious walking. I didn't see any fast travel while I played, but I didn't finish it so who knows.

I was hoping for a third round of survival shooter stealth gameplay, but they added in too much, making it unfocused and uneven. It's still decent, I've played crap games and this isn't one of them, but it doesn't hold a candle to the first two.
