Just watch a stream or two of people playing the game and you'll know if this is for you or not. It's a blast to play with friends. Very silly and a compelling loop that will have you wanting one more run each time.

This game completely surprised me. One look at the trailer and I thought it looked incredibly mediocre. When I gave it a chance though? The game looks incredible cranked up. The writing in particular really stood out to me. While the story beats themselves aren't much to write home about, they're exactly what you'd want in a RoboCop story. However, it's the moment to moment interactions and characterizations that show the talent and dedication by the writer(s). A faithful tale that not only delivers on the action, but showing you the true heart of the human soul. The impact you have on the supporting cast can be incredibly heartwarming if you play to Murphy's human side. The radio ads were a joy to listen to, very funny and gave you that feel that this is a living world.

TL;DR

If you like FPSRPGs and don't mind a linear story that's done well, give RoboCop Rogue City a go.

It takes a long time to get into, but once you do the story is great. Watch the cutscenes, immerse yourself. Know that the writing and acting get better. Mechanically, the game is wonderfully deep with engaging rotations and boss mechanics that will challenge the most hardcore Simon Says players.

The devs love their game, and love their players.

As a legally blind gamer who relies on windows magnifier to read in game text, this is utterly unplayable for me. Searching around, the windows key hasn't worked in game since 2014 and HI Rez doesn't care (they generally don't care about bugs in ANY of their games, but y'know). I can Paladins fine even with the visual impairments, but there's no way for me to play this game when I can't read the descriptions of items or even review the options menu.

Unless you have someone to teach you a masters level course on the game, don't bother. It's far too dense to worth your time. The game is slow and plodding with no fun to be had. It's a game of inches. There are other actually fun games in the genre that sure, aren't as deep, but they make up for it by being faster paced and more enjoyable for casual players.

On chapter 2 right now and I have to say, it's not every day you get to play a brand new game and realize it's one of your favorite games of all time before you finish it. Is it for everyone? Nah, probably not, but it is for anyone who loves old school character focused storytelling and deep strategic thinking. A perfect marriage of old and new. Game is gorgeous, story is well told, music is excellent, and the mechanics are satisfying. If you're curious what a Final Fantasy title could be if they hadn't thrown the baby out with the bathwater, pick this up.

Incredibly well crafted game. Agents and gadgets feel well balanced with each having reasonable trade offs that can be mapped to personal preference. Matches are fun with a satisfying build as players vie for resources and eventually make their play for the briefcase. Everything is thoughtfully designed to keep players involved and ensure no one gets out for free. Both solo and teams are engaging and keep me coming back for more. It's still early and there are some things that need to be cleaned up (minor bug squashes), and features like private lobby support. The map Diamond Spire may need some reworking as the escape routes are possible a tad too easy to juke pursuers, but maybe I'm just not playing it right yet. All in all, a fantastic game and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't give it whirl or at least watch some streams.

Edit: We're now deep into season 2 and I have to say, Sweet Bandits have done a fantastic job updating the game. The additions have improved play each time adding depth and counterplay without sacrificing anything that made the game fun before. Highly recommend picking it up and here's to many years of playing this evolving game.

The creators here have done a great job of blending roguelike elements with story telling. Each character may have only one destination, but how you choose to get there is both up to you and up to dynamic events, helping shape the details of each run. Mechanically, both the combat and negotiation systems are satisfying. Having these two decks keeps either one from feeling stale. Negotiation is more interesting to me personally, since it's very different from the combat system, which while enjoyable and well put together is very similar to other combat focused deck builders.

If you like deck builders but want a fuller experience, highly recommend it.
