Early Access Review
A fantastic all around experience. From the combat to the building, the game offers a diverse set of options to choose from. While it's currently listed as an Early Access title, it provides hours and hours of surprisingly polished gameplay.

You have various routes to take when it comes to both bosses and resource gathering, the game is pretty open to you skipping a boss to get something earlier. The fact that there are several ways to acquire different items to progress may be overwhelming at first, but once you get used to the flow of it you can gather these ingredients in key areas and get ahead of the curve if you're playing on PvP.

The combat is responsive and fun, with various abilities/spells to choose from as you keep drinking V Blood (the bosses of the game). It suits different play styles, with each ability tree being unique in what they do. Unholy, for example, is more of a support tree while Chaos focuses on damage and DoT. You can switch abilities on the fly without worrying about skill points or similar. Your level is tied to your gear.

While all I've done is play in PvE I was not bored for around 60~ hours, 10 of them in my own world and the rest in a dedicated server I hosted for my friends and I.
If you want to play by yourself or have a more relaxed PvE experience, the game offers various settings to make life easier for you, like loot drop multipliers, resources gathered multipliers and you can even adjust and tweak your own physical damage and spell damage, which is a very welcome addition to tailor the experience to your needs.

I've encountered three or so crashes, but other than those I haven't experienced any other game-breaking or obnoxious bugs.
I've also heard that the official servers are absolutely packed with castles and that it's near impossible to get a foothold in them, so be warned.

In short (for PvE at least), a great combat, building and immersive game with great customization options to create your own experience however you like without the constraints that games usually have in place.

Absolutely terrible port. Constant rubber banding, freezing when bosses and even enemies attack, input delay and stuttering. Not to mention crashes for no apparent reason. I can't recommend the game until the performance issues are fixed.

Deathloop seems like it was made for a specific audience. Most of the reviews complain about the maps being small, game being repetitive etc, and I can understand people finding it somewhat repetitive, however, at it's core, if you use leads properly, explore the maps throughly and put together clues, ever single loop is different.

The amount of detail that's been put into the games' main mechanic - the loop- is insane. Not only can you influence the entire day by making changes in the world, but you start feeling like you're mastering this extremely adverse situation you're in, piecing together what steps you need to take to end the game. Adding to the detail, the environments are choke full of different environmental storytelling. The game keeps you guessing at what's going on, which I really enjoy.

There aren't that many weapons, but being only able to carry 3 means that once you get a loadout you enjoy, you won't change it that much. That said, there is a lot of different things you can do with weapon and character mods. Main character mods also change a lot, since there are some purple rarity mods that can change the way you play entirely, for example, being able to breathe gas or push people while sprinting.

As for the powers, I've heard people complain about only using blink and aether (invisibility) since they're the most useful. I strongly disagree, Nexus makes for fantastic take downs, Havoc can let you change the way you play and go for a melee-centric build, Karnesis is, by far, my favorite power. Being able to control where you throw enemies by subtle mouse movements takes getting used to, but it is absolutely devastating when used properly. You can completely shut down a Julianna or a Colt by changing their position, also leaving them exposed or killing them mid air, throw them off the map, or smashing them against a wall.

Colt and Julianna's banter and relationship is extremely well written too. The visionaries all also have their own personalities even though some get way more screen time than others (Aleksis being the prime example, however fitting it is)

Performance is still an issue, there's no doubt about it, but it seems to be being worked on.
This game certainly isn't for everyone. It's made for certain type of players, but that isn't inherently a bad thing. Perhaps the marketing could have been more specific.

I still haven't finished the game, but I am enjoying it a lot.
EDIT:
I have finished the game once, it's very satisfying to finally solve the puzzle, but the ending does feel too abrupt. I will try and 100% the game though, the loops are fun themselves.

I have more than 1,000 hours on battle.net, and honestly, telling Activision to ♥♥♥♥ off was the right choice.

EDIT: Nope. It really was not.

Worst port I've ever played.
I'm using mouse and keyboard and the mouse moves wherever the ♥♥♥♥ it wants to, only happens when you're in atmosphere or in outer space, but it's so infiurating to have it happen over and over again. It's unplayable.

The game itself seems okay, but the poor optimization, multiple bugs and glitches and overall shallow gameplay, it's not worth 15€ by any means

Just... go in blind, you'll love the game no matter what - trust me on this.

Early Access Review
A game that started with HUGE potential and was fun to play early on. Now the combat is sloppy and much less fun than before. There are way more crashes than in release and for some reason, runs worse.

The game starts off strong, being gorgeous, things slowly going insane, but halfway thru the game, it becomes... meh.
There are barely, if any, choices. One ending, and barely explains what was going on, it was a really abrupt ending and the end game is terrible, it's just more walking and walking and barely interacting with the enviroment.

Defect: SDK is one of the most fun games I've played in a while. Honestly, it's simple, fun, yet complex when you actually get into it.

So, let's get to the meat of the game, shall we?
The game focuses on you building ships to complete various missions, however, you may be tempted to make the best ship, and that's where Defect is unique: you fight your own ships.

You see, you're a terrible captain, and the crew (also terrible) throws you out of your ship and claims it as their own in the end of each mission.

The missions at this current state are pretty fun, and seem to be tweaked constantly. The game is really dynamic because of how you build the ship, is how you will play. It's also really satisfying, when you finish that mission that took you so long, or that ship you built that was a great challenge to face.

The weapon diversity is there, you have turrets, beams, beam turrets, just pew pew laser weapons, torpedoes, missiles... A NUKE! (not yet avaliable to build though), shields to protect you from pew pew lasers and specialized shields that block missiles and torpedoes.

The game offers great variety in terms of building, because each component has an unique feel about it and can be rotated to look absolutely different.

So far so good, I'll continue playing this game and update this review as I go.

9.5/10

Storm a floor with a shield and pistol.
Kill 3 players with the pistol while my teammates wait outside while one of them is in another room.
The 2 other players run away from the hostage in fear of getting killed.
My teammate in the room kills the fleeing chickens.
...I had no ammo and by just blocking a doorway they were scared.
10/10 immersion and realism
