toxic community lol xddddd

For real though, so much you can do in this game. Mount & Blade styled combat, huge map, tons of crafting variety, a sort of choose your own adventure that's really rewarding. People are more than happy to help out new players (depending on who you ask ofc). Lots of inter-guild politics to be had. On my first few days of playing/streaming this I got some gifts to get started (HUGE props to the community). I got to experience a high level dungeon being surrounded by awesome people and later on I saw a siege in action which was really cool. Witnessing a weather changing spell was... Magical to say the least, it was like fireworks. Great fun as is, huge potential for what could come in the future.

People have been helping me out with how to do things, how to put together a build, sharing useful resources, and so much more.

Remember, dying is apart of the fun and don't forget to get good.

Potential spoilers on what could happen in the game:

So after some failed attempts on Dwarf Fortress I managed to make a halfway decent fortress. I had it all; food, booze, plenty of dwarves, etc. But I had one issue; the leader of my militia was in fact a vampire. He would go around sucking people's blood and end up killing him. Someone finally witnessed this happening and so I could arrest him, then I eventually executed him to put a stop to that. What I didn't realized was that this guy was beloved by all and so once he died everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, became severely depressed. I decided to do some deep mining. I eventually got so deep I discovered an ancient monster that went on a rampage killing nearly everyone. I managed to seal off the mine before it got everyone but the damage was done. I lost too many dwarves to depression and ancient evils, I just couldn't keep it going any longer. So that marked the end of my one and only "successful" runs of Dwarf Fortress so far.

This is an amazing game, I had a lot of fun playing it for about 8 hours. Unfortunately this game is lacking in replayability once you do a few playthroughs and end up getting your own champion with max stats. I haven't tried it on a higher difficulty so that could allow for some replayability.

Here's where I think this game could improve:
- Workshop/modding support so people can add more gladiator classes, weapons/armour/etc., employees, maps, music, and whatever else you could imagine. If workshop/modding were added that would definitely draw me back to playing this game.
- Specializations for each gladiator class with different sub-sets of weapons/armour/etc. For example, having a gladiator specialize in speed (lighter equipment, lower damage, faster attacks), strength (heavy equipment, high damage, slower attacks), balanced (best of both worlds).
- More variety with music/random events/battles. After awhile everything starts to repeat quite a lot. When I say battles I'd like to see more obstacles and challanges. For example the arena could have different layouts (mazes, booby traps, etc.) allied gladiators could be chained to each other so that they can't move far apart, it'd also be nice to see more exotic animals in the arena.
- More gladiator classes. I think adding workshop/modding support is the best way to address this, but if that's not possible then simply seeing more classes would be great.
- Controller suport to control your gladiator.
- Multiplayer. I can see this one as a difficult one to address. Do you select a gladiator to use from your own ludus? Do you customize your own gladiator in a menu before going in to battle? Do you just get a random gladiator? What gamemodes do you have (e.g. to the death in 1v1/2v2/4v4, free for all with unlimited repsawns, etc.)?

Those are the main improvements I foresee that could really spice up the game. Extra cool things to see would be stuff like viewing your competitor's ludus, an expanded Doctore research tree, and more political options to influence how arena battles are set up (e.g. bribing the magistrate to tilt the odds in your favour). That's all I can think of at this moment.

This game is up there alongside the few that remain enjoyable no matter how much I play them.

I don't normally write reviews of games that I've played but Metro 2033 is an exception. This game provided an in-depth storyline in which the user can immersve himself/herself in the life of Artyom. It provided a very captivating gameplay with many positive traits. The combat was easy enough so that you didn't get frustrated and hard enought to enjoy the challenge. The overall upside of this is the great storyline and seeing the story and its character develope. There's also some RPG elements found like currency which can be used on purchasing items (which isn't excessive in choices). A few downfalls to note though: it's quite difficult to be stealthy, animations seem jumpy at times and one only travels through a small portion of the map that is displayed (which can be quite deceiving).

-Provides a fair amount of gameplay.
-Is not an annoying game to play.
-Very captivating storyline.
-Hard to passivly get by enemies.
-Few irregular animations.
-Small portion of map is traversed.

I give this game an 8 out of 10.
