Decent ending but hope for mod support for custom storylines or DLC.

Unlike other "Tales of" games, this is very accessible to players new and old to the series. Like most of the other games, players do not need to play any other games in the series to understand the story. Compared to what I, a Tales fan would want in a story, Arise falls a tad short to my expectations. The game is very linear but what story is there is engaging enough for me to care about the characters and feel like there is a point to their journey.

While speculation on my part, I think development was extremely focused on making the polished action combat system and they succeeded in that regard but that focus left very little time to scope out any grand world building outside of places like ice, fire, and water levels. Boss fights also tend to be hit and miss in terms of interesting mechanics but the ones that are cool, you really want more of.

Overall, the combat is something you will spend most of your time doing so if you don't enjoy the action-type combat with special move cut-ins, you might not like this game. If you're interested in Arise on it's own or the Tales series at all, Arise is worth a try with the amount of polish the game has alone.

+ Surprisingly a good entry-level fighter with a fairly high skill ceiling.
+ Great for fans of the Granblue property who are following side stories
+ Receives updates on a consistent, but slow, basis
+ Each character, including the "clones", have their own moveset and differential playstyle (as well as personality)
+ Singleplayer campaign with coop that doubles as a good tutorial mode
+ That orchestral and techno soundtrack good
- Takes quite a bit of money to buy characters as well as the game and doesn't go on sale very often
- Some veteran fighter gamers might find this game too simple
- The game itself is relatively niche, so the playerbase is spread thin

TL;DR: Worth a shot if you're a Granblue fan looking for something to do aside from the mobile game. Worth a shot if you want to learn a fighter if you're somewhat new to the genre. Don't expect a big scene outside of some niche circles.

While a pay-to-play system, FFXIV is a must play for mmo-lovers and their friends. Especially now that the story-rich expansion, Shadowbringers, has released. I thoroughly enjoyed Heavensward as well so don't skip all the way to level 70.

With leveling being easier than ever in 5.X, now is a better time than ever to jump in and get to the new content in a reasonable time-frame.

+Many different builds/decks
+Most builds are relatively versatile
+Replay value is high, especially with mods and challenge modes
+Simple UI
+Good for pick-up and play
+You can save games and come back later

-Unlocked content/cards sometimes make the game harder to win with some cards now appearing instead of others
-Animations and overall detail are basic
-Luck is heavily a factor

Overall a good buy for the price especially on sale.

Civ V is a great game to try out especially with all of the dlc. I've had hours of great fun with mostly singleplayer alone and the combat system is great. I do find that water and air combat seems to rule the game as cities are difficult to defend when being constantly bombarded. Mods and other things keep this game living for months of replayability.

I recommend purchasing this even with Civ 6 out.
