I had quite a lot of fun with this right up till about BR 6. Then you run into 2 problems.
The first is at that BR, you run into the people who are REALLY good at this. That shot IS going to pen, and its going to hurt you bad.
The second is that the grind gets real at about BR 4.7, and by 6 its seriously grindy. Compounded by people who are just overall better then you.

Play it short runs, and it still is fun. Take out your BR 3 tanks and have FUN.

5/23/23: Edit time. Recent econ changes have made the F2P side untenable. I can have Tank RB matches where I get 4 kills and LOOSE money. At BR 7 I don't see a way to make enough money to pay for new tanks full stop without both a sub AND the premium bonuses.

Consider my timbers shivered for this classic. 2005 called, it wants you to remember this exists, and that even today its still quite good.

Im a bit of a sucker when it comes to the 'feeling' of game. I can often overlook small issues when presented with a game that has a solid story, and gets the atmosphere right. Sleeping Dogs does just that. Its just got a great vibe both in and out of combat. This graphical overhaul is a welcome improvment to an already good game.

Im sorry, back on track...

Full of characters that are truly likeable, often in their unlikability, making terrible choices often to their own detriment. Its a solid, well designed, single player experence.

With a terrible, grindy, bloated, pointless, free for all multi player experence tacked onto it. To sell Shark Cards. And BOY howdey did it ever sell shark cards. For a game that gets years of free updates, none of it ever makes it into the single player game. Want to get your grubby hands on all the fun stuff? Good luck with that.

Its fun. But its attatched to the worst case of game cancer bloat. And its gonna infect so many upcomming titles.

Its lovely looking, its endearing, its short, and its free.

And it has no qualms about kicking you square in the feels.

I wanted to like this game so much. I really did. The concept of Payday set in WW2? Yeah, totally there.

The reality? Its...well not good. Mabey had it been released in 2012 insted of 2017 it would been better. But it was just miles behind.
I could go on for a while, but it was just a lot of...not great. Visually, auditory, mechanically.

But its got John Cleese?

Hour 1: Cool, its got boats!
Hour 3: Why does my boat keep sinking?
Hour 7: Why does my boat keep rolling over and sinking?
Hour 15: I have a working boat!
Hour 15.25: And it apparently sucks!
Hour 40: What is a PID?
Hour 120: I hate PIDs...
Hour 240: My boat flys with PIDs!
Hour 240.25: And It still sucks!

Hour 500: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell...this does WHAT?!?
Hour 500.25: Guess my boat still sucks...again...

No, but really. Its eating my life. And its a fantastic game with a great community.

Its Quake 2. Strap on your BFG and enjoy history.

Soooo... a game that never left beta, and will remaind forever, as a pre-release game.
Gaslamp studios is no more. So what you have right now is a full price, unfinished, kinda buggy hot mess.

But HEY, at least the community is working to fix it...

Unless the price drops off a cliff (sub 10 bucks) dont bother.
