I don't like shooters, but the story was pretty great. I played through it twice. I highly recommend this game. The second playthrough was interesting in light of the ending. I had a tough time on the normal difficulty, but it was rewarding.

I can't give a good comparison of where it lands with other shooters, but I can say if you like a good story, this one was a good story.

This is a great game, and has a similar feel to another game I love, Massive Chalice.

For an older game it holds up beautifully.

Just so you know this game is fairly short. You'll be glad for that if you hate pixel graphics RPGs like I do. But the game is in many ways better because it is succinct. This game is simple but that simplicity is used to masterfully weave a story. It has some innovative stuff in terms of interacting with the game and that is used artfully to weave another layer into the story being told.

It is a story. Your choices matter in that NPC interactions change, but the story doesn't except for the ending.

I want to avoid spoiling anything, but it's a definite recommendation, which is saying a lot because I don't like RPGs, linear story lines, pixel graphics, and a few other descriptors about this game. But it came so highly recommended that I had to try it, and I'm glad I did.

This game is unique, the experience is one of a kind, and the combat system seems impossible to master and yet is still very fun. I picked it up for the art (I hate 2d scrollers) and not only is the art fantastic, the gameplay is too.

This game took about 10 hours to complete, so for the current steam sale is completely worth it. The puzzles in it were enjoyable and a bit difficult but that only made it better. I didn't have to look up a guide to figure any out, so that was nice. What I did have to look up a guide for was what I had to do next towards the end. Usually that's a deal breaker for me, but it was fine with this game since most of it was actually really well designed.

As far as the gameplay, I generally hate games like this. I don't like walking around, running between rooms and overcoming traps and guards. However, the story was good and it drove me to continue and the mechanic of sneaking had a sense of fantasy realism. Basically no one is invisible (duh) but if they were the game portrayed how it would play out well enough.

The graphics were fitting. I don't like 2D anything unless it's one of my old favorites, but actually the art was a really good. The sounds were good and musical. I wish there was voice acting, but instead it's something like Don't Starve when conversation happens. The voice acting could have really upped the game's value. Nonetheless, it was well done the way it was done.

So I definitely recommend you purchase it even if it isn't up your alley (but at the $10 sale.) If it is up your alley, 15 dollars is better than acceptable. If you speak Arabic, I'd recommend it at $15 simply because it was so fun to read the names and know that you know the translations. It's set in a Muslim setting, so if you are Muslim, I guess that's nice too, but I'm not, so I have no idea.

I beat this game about 2 years ago on miniclip. Found it again on here. They made it a lot longer. It's been a year and I'm in the last 100 of upgrades. Prepare your anus for the long ride. With that said, it's actually really fun if you like clicking games and/or if you like spreadsheet games. The great thing is though, if you like one and hate the other this game is still suitable for you.

It's also free. You'll know in about 3 minutes if you will like it or not.

P.S.

This game is also really good at finding out if you are predisposed to having a gambling addiction. There is 0 gambling in the game but if the positive rewards for reaching the next plateau is rewarding to you as are the sounds as you progress, you may want to stay away from a slot machine.

500 hours on this game. Let me just say, it was worth it. It feels like a sport, unlike sports game. You get better with time, you understand strategy, and you make a lot of friends (unless you like being a loner like me.) It's worth every penny. It's one of the best games I've played in a long time.

Update 5 years later and 10 times the hours: Still great.

This game was amazing. It still is amazing. I was reading through the reviews and one guy said this is a game you can always come back to. This is 100% the case.
