This is the first game with physics that I ever played. I spent a solid 5 minutes throwing garbage cans at people. The voice acting makes The Room look like Cinema Paradiso. It's not even deadpan, it's just dead. I will give it this, it's the first game with multiple endings where all the endings are bad ones. Maybe they inspired New Vegas in that way, who knows. Visually? I mean it came out a year after Morrowind, but the color schemes are akin to what the 2010s seem to think the 80s looked like, minus the palm trees. Wait, maybe there were some in Cairo. Whatever. If you're up for a retro experience that isn't a 2D shooter, and dig the whole classic cyberpunk "nighttime 24 hours a day" aesthetic, this might be right up your alley. However if you're triggered by low poly counts, might wanna just leave this in the museum.

Used to love playing this! So simple yet so frenetic and fun!

Now I run it and get this:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

YES, I tried downloading and installing the newest version from Microsoft, and it failed to install because
"Error 0x80070666: Cannot install a product when a newer version is installed."
The version in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2015
is Version 14.0.24215.1
The version included in the download is
"Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redist"
Version 10.0.303.19.1

Tried swapping one for the other, and the other for one, and in each instance I still just got errors. I'm really sad because this was SUCH a fun game.

Oblivion gates get boring and redundant, the faces are UGLY, and the charisma wheel system is awkward and weird. That aside, this is the game is a classic. It did for Morrowind what Wrath of Khan and Empire Strikes Back did for their franchises. The non-main quests are where this game shines. That and Shivering Isles.

Number one rule of making an "obsidian": do not upstage the original game.

OOPS TOO LATE!

The writing is FANTASTIC, the music is wonderful, interface is great, acting rocks, and Chloe's "power" is just perfect (that's not a sarcastic "perfect"). While the new VA isn't quite as good, she got Chloe's spirit just right.

If you liked Life Is Strange but found some of the writing insipid and annoying, you'll find this a breath of fresh air.

(an "obsidian," in this case, is "KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords" , "Fallout New Vegas" , "Majora's Mask" , any game based on a previous one using the same engine, assettes, canon universe, but with improvements and not made by all (if any) of the original team)

Great concept, HORRIBLE delivery. No motion control, only one analog control (what the hell is this, a Nintendo 64?) and the touchpads are awkward (at least the right one is, left one doesn't do anything). I love the idea of putting a laptop style touchpad on a controller to give the precision and speed of a mouse, but it's so sluggish and clumsy you might as well just use a slow-turn anolog instead.. And to top it off, it freezes from time to time and the only way to reset it is to remove the batteries, a very difficult task given the impossible placement of the battery slots. I'm so glad I only paid half price for this piece of junk.

My only criticism is the save/load feature. If you have multiple saves, you may find yourself re-doing some parts. There's workarounds tho. Other than that, this is a beautiful wonderful story. The art and how it all functions couldn't be better.

Couldn't get past the tutorial page without putting my fist through the screen. Instead of doing what GOOD games do (walk you through simple steps, then explain them simply, then make them more complicated, imersing you in the story thruought) they're like that nerdy guy who explains every part of every step in depth before and after you take it. I only paid $5 for this and I still feel ripped off.

Normally I enjoy games that are more narative than gameplay, more expression than competition. This, however, is an endurance test and little more. The concept is fine, and the aesthetics mostly work, but there's no reason to believe this was play tested with anyone who wasn't friends or relatives.

Some of the walking becomes tedious but all in all it's a wonderful game.

2800 hours played, only stopped when "Minecraft - clayface edition" finally came out in November. If you haven't played 3, Obsidian's spin on the Fallout universe will SPOIL you ROTTEN. If your computer can't handle Fallout 4, New Vegas will keep you busy for a good long time, long before exploring the DLC or seeing just how far down FNV's user mod rabbit hole goes.
