I thought people only liked it for the lesbians but it turns out its one of the best games I've ever played

TL;DR Review:-
The environments are an absolute standout in the Half-Life 2 modding scene. The majority of the gameplay is very good. One of the best mods I've played, despite the abysmal story, animation, and voice acting.

Full Review:-
THE GOOD:
The environments are insanely good! It's clear a lot of love went into them, there's a real sense of place, with beautiful representations of a setting we don't see often. Every building feels lived-in, and every detail feels purposeful. I don't think I saw a single bland or low-effort area.
The pacing is pretty great outside of the dialogue scenes (we'll get to that later). This is a mod that remembers Half-Life isn't just all combat all the time. There's a great mix of puzzle and exploration sections in there between the more combat-heavy parts.
There's also some pretty well-thought-out design present. I like how setpieces in the driving section ensure you have the car, and the magnet pusher gives you the Gravity Gun's punt mechanic to move the car if it gets stuck, without throwing the whole Gravity Gun at you, with all the gameplay and lore baggage that comes with.

THE MIXED:
The music is great and very fitting for both the franchise and the scenes, but it's also clear they're all remixes of existing Half-Life music. It's not a problem in-game but it may be a negative to people hoping for a wholly original soundtrack, given there's a (free) soundtrack release.
There's a lot of really egregious signposting to cover some of the less-well designed setpieces. I'm glad they err on the side of making sure you can figure out what to do, but it does take me out of it when there's just graffiti of grenades pointing at windows and such. This is something that could have been solved with better visual highlighting, clearer goals, and more consistent mechanics but, for a free mod that doesn't have Valve's design resources - fair enough.

THE BAD:
You've probably picked up from other reviews by now, but the voice acting is all-around terrible and badly directed. Nobody sounds like a real person, none of the deliveries sound properly motivated. Lines are delivered monotonously, quietly, and without context, as though they were being read from a script in someone's bedroom, trying not to wake their parents.
The story is also a low point, featuring dry exposition, unclear motivations, uninteresting conflicts, and poorly explored plot points. I hardly expect great writing, voice acting, or animation from free mods, but for one that takes itself so seriously, and with such high quality elsewhere, it completely takes me out of the game every time a character talks.
The ending is also a complete anticlimax. The gameplay of the final setpiece is unsatisfying and kind of jank, followed by a comically bad cutscene and a moral choice that's hard to care about (which only changes some epilogue text).

Genuinely the best entertainment experience of my life, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This is honestly one of the best games I have played in a long time and I love it a whole lot.

Celeste pushes every mechanic as far as it possibly can, constantly finding new and unexpected uses and combinations, such that every screen feels like a fresh new challenge.

Almost every secret in the game rewards you with more gameplay, be it a one-screen platforming puzzle for a strawberry, or a harder, "B-Side" version of a world, which makes exploring feel so much more worth it.

The soundtrack is incredible, the visuals are beautiful and polished, and the story was unexpectedly great.

This game didn't need to do any of these things to be a fantastic game but it did them anyway and I'm so happy for it.

Calling this my ideal game would be an understatement.
