Awesomenauts is best described as a 2D side scrolling MOBA. It has its ups and downs balance wise but it has a devoted dev team, while even though at times they seem as if they don't have the interests of the players in mind they clearly care about their game and everyone playing it very very much.
Currently the game is undergoing a player shortage which causes more lag in games, however Ronimo just implemented a match making system which seems to help despite causing longer queue times.
Many of the devoted players have begun to leave the game for one reason or another but there are still many players who love and play the game even if they complain about it.
This game has brought me years of joy and has introduced me to so many wonderful people I talk to every day. It has a strong community of players who really do love the game even if they don't show it at times.
I highly recommend trying this game out. For the low price you can get it at there is no real reason not to try it out. I would also recommend trying to become a part of this community, some of the best people can be found on the twitch streams of this game. Ronimo stream every Wednesday and there always seems to be a tournament going on each weekend.
